My friend Kelly likes to say that being a mom is like running in one of those hamster wheels-going non stop but never getting anywhere!
I relate to the feeling, but for me, the best comparison is to an obstacle course.
Just think about all the things that you have to navigate during the day: Crawling through the drop-off lane, dodging a PTA sign-up, crawling under the couch for someone’s shoe and someone else’s permission slip……and that’s just before 9AM!
I’ve been using Ziploc® brand bags for some of my favorite school and activity, “Hacks,” forever, so when the folks at Ziploc® asked me to share one way they’re saluting tough, multi-tasking moms like you, naturally I said, “Yes!”
I use Ziploc® bags for the obvious stuff like school lunches, but I also use their Easy Open Tab bags to help us get and keep our act together in other ways. For example, I love to use their gallon bags to hold the kids’ school paperwork. Each week our 1st grader has “Word Work” homework that we have to pull out every day. I can keep them handy in one bag all week right in the kitchen. They stay flat and clean and I know right where they are!
I also use Ziploc® bags for all the little pieces and doo-dads that seem to cover our floors. Army Men, anyone? Stepping on those little guys hurts almost as bad as stepping on a Lego!
And, of course, we use Ziploc® bags to have snacks (and sometimes dinner) when we’re at or on our way to the boys’ many activities. Want to make friends at the soccer game? Like with the mom who has the portable heater and the canopy? Snacks are always a good way to do it! I find that many pre-portioned snacks are difficult for my boys to open. If I hand them a bag of pretzels, it’s pretty likely they will explode and people will go hungry. Putting them in the easy open bags ensures that the boys can handle the snacks, and I don’t have to worry about damage control!
Speaking of soccer games, another handy use I’ve found for Ziploc® bags is keeping the boys’ soccer uniforms in the gallon size bags. We have games on Saturdays, so there is no use for those uniforms to get lost in the sea of laundry or the boys’ bedrooms throughout the week. Once they are laundered after game day, I put the shirt, shorts, and socks all in one handy gallon size bag. That way, when we are all chowing down on breakfast Saturday morning, while Mom gathers the team snacks, the boys can simply grab the Ziploc bag of uniforms and not cause any trouble! The only test is if they can safely remove the clothes from the bag, and put them on their person without losing a thing.
New Ziploc® brand bags with Easy Open Tabs are the same quality you’d expect from Ziploc® brand, but with an added tab, making them easy to grip and easy to open-even if you have wet hands and something (or somebody) in your other one.
Ziploc® is all about teaming up with moms no matter what obstacles they face-including the real kind that involve getting covered in mud. Yep, they will be forming a “Team Tough Mother”, made up of national and local influencers, who will be present in markets around the country, participating in Tough Mudder events to honor tough mothers everywhere!
Have you ever done a Tough Mudder event? Moms navigate a mud filled obstacle course as part of a team. It’s a race, but it’s about finishing, not winning-as moms push each other to overcome obstacles and face their fears. Totally brag worthy! Ziploc® will have a team at Tough Mudder events across the country, and they’ll have bags available to keep competitors’ gear clean and dry. Clever, right? You can learn more and see a complete list of Tough Mudder events here.
Ziploc® brand bags with Easy Open Tabs are available at national and local retailers everywhere.
Visit the Ziploc® brand on YouTube and be sure to check out the Tough Mother video. It’s really cute. You’ll want to share it will all the tough, multi-tasking mommas you know! Do you have an out of the (lunch) box way you use Ziploc® bags? Leave a comment and tell us about it!
