Second Sundays at Morse Wildlife Preserve
April 8 @ 9:00 am - 3:00 pm
An event every month that begins at 9:00am on day Second of the month, repeating until October 14, 2018
Don’t miss your chance to go on a family nature walk at this special place! Morse Wildlife Preserve is a privately-owned nature preserve open to the public on special days throughout the year, including Second Sundays from April through October. Celebrate more than 20 years of preservation and education with us! All welcome; no registration needed.
The preserve includes five habitat types with almost 100 acres consisting of wetlands, coniferous forest, oak prairie, deciduous forest. The historic barn is on the list of historic barns of Pierce County.
A new boardwalk was completed a few years ago that provides new access to the wetlands of Muck Creek, as well as the forested hillside and newly constructed trails beyond.
Please, no pets and note that parking is limited.
Tahoma Audubon Education Committee will be setting up Poetry in the Park signage along the upland trails at MWP in time for the first Second Sunday of 2018 in April (8th). It is my understanding that the signage will contain a ‘station appropriate’ poem.
The Tahoma Audubon Society is doubling the number of bird boxes therefore there should be double the number of opportunities to see parent birds feeding their offspring.
The Observation Tower experience will be upgraded with an interpretative placard describing what can be seen 40’ in the air over the Preserve.
