Social Skillz runs in one- or four-week sessions designed to develop social and emotional skills in neurodiverse kids and teens entering K-12th grade. The four-week long camp runs from July 1-28.
The Social Skillz summer camp, 9AM-12PM One-week sessions use games, arts and collaborative activities to teach social and emotional skills in a concrete and hands-on way. Groups will be organized according to both age and developmental needs.
SSTS Theatre Camp, 1PM-4PM Four-week production focused theatre camp that teaches integrated social skills in a supported environment. All ages production.
Director Kobi Wilson has a background in SpEd and uses theater tools to teach social emotional skills and resilience. Camp is located in downtown Tacoma and is designed to work for all campers! Social Skillz does accept DDA.

Camps for All Children with Inclusive Policies

At YMCA Summer Day Camps, kids build friendships and learn new skills through adventure and exploration. Financial assistance is available.

At the Y, we believe that every child deserves to have a summer camp experience. Does your camper need a little extra help to be successful in summer day camp? Please mention this on your registration form and our inclusion specialist will be in touch with you to set up a meeting to ensure your camper has the best summer ever! While we are not able to accommodate every special request, we will do our best to make sure all campers have a fun and safe summer.

Children of all abilities are encouraged to participate in our camps. In order to ensure an engaging and safe experience for your child, please inform us if your child has any allergies and/or special needs. The Children’s Museum of Tacoma does not provide 1:1 supervision for participants needing assistance with personal care; however, care providers are welcome to attend camp upon clearing a background check requiring at least 1 week processing and additional payment.
Background check is needed for any adult supporting a camper.
DDA & respite will pay.
Art Studio 27 is a painting studio specializing in painting, clay, ceramics, drawing and watercolor to name a few. Angie has an alternative studio with lower stimulation for those needing a more subdued environment and can adapt her lessons to meet most needs. Contact Angie for more information.
Typical camps run from 9AM-12PM 13 kids max for one person/teacher ages 6-12
Events and Other Fun
Exceptional families offers year round fun and support for kids with special needs and their families.
Children with special needs (ages 5-17) and their caretakers come together with community volunteers for a day of fishing they may not otherwise experience. Volunteers will take you around the South Sound (or Lake Washington) in their boat, sharing their expertise and fishing secrets for your day of fishing!
