Sunflowers! Everyone loves them, right?
A lot of readers have asked if I know of any sunflower fields or other fields of flowers good for a pretty photo op.
Until recently, I honestly didn’t know any South Sound or Tacoma area sunflower options, but just recently, I’ve learned about a couple places to get sunflowers near the Puyallup Valley.
One option is Sterino Farms, where they are offering u cut sunflowers.
From their fb post:
“
The flowers sure are loving all of this sun!

Jack’s U-cut sunflower field is now open! The hours for the field will be Friday through Sunday from 10-4! We will supply you with clippers and all cuttings will be $2 per stem! Lots of different colors and varieties to choose from!

And lots of new items continue to make their way into the stand including green beans for pickling!
See you on the farm!”
Another option is the Maris Farms Sunflower Festival planned for August in Buckley.
Now, this one is a brand new event, so they’re asking you to understand that flowers can be a bit unpredictable with their blooming. There are timed tickets on sale. Will Covid restrictions further affect this one? I have no idea! Again, this isn’t my event, so get in touch with the folks there with any questions. It looks really neat!
Schilter Farms in Olympia also has a sunflower festival planned for August.
This one looks really cute, with wagon rides and lots of photo ops. You need to get your tickets online, in advance. Thanks to one of our awesome reader on Fb for this one.
Stocker Farms Snohomish
And, finally, if you’re willing to road trip it just a bit, you can head to Stocker Farms Snohomish in September, where they have a sunflower festival planned. They have also updated their site with Covid information.
Those are all the sunflower field options I know about. I suspect there are also some local farm stands or roadside stands where you can find some. If you know about any, or if you know about any other sunflower fields or events I missed, let me know!
These type of things tend to be really popular, so go with a spirit of adventure, and your face mask. 🙂 As with everything we share here at the site, I am providing you with the scoop. YOU get to decide what sounds safe and fun for your family.
Other flower fields
As of this writing, Lupine time at the Van Lierop Park in Puyallup is over, but you can save the date for next year. My husband and I were just at the rose garden at Pt. Defiance, and it’s gorgeous right now (Yes, it’s open, and yes, you can park). The rose tunnel has already peaked, but there are rows of bushes in full bloom, and it smells heavenly.
The lavender festival is going on in Sequim if you want to make a road trip. And, it should be just about peak time for wildflowers up at Mt. Rainier. Here are favorite wildflower hikes. I haven’t updated that post yet this year, but I think the scoop should still be good. Don’t forget the bug spray!
