Curbside Book Pick Up Now Available at the Puyallup Public Library

July 14, 2020 by Maegen Blue

Good news, Puyallup book fans! You CAN get books from the library!

While you can’t yet go into the library, the Puyallup Public Library now has curbside pick-up, so you can go get new books for you or the kids!

Wondering how it works? Here’s the scoop!

  • You’ll need to place a hold on what you want via phone 253.841.5454, email puylib@ci.puyallup.wa.us, or the library catalog you log into via the web or mobile app. To do the log in you’ll need your library card number and pin. If you need help with any of that, just call your friendly librarian.
  • If you don’t know what you want, or you need help picking out stuff for the kids, library staff can help with that, too! Give them a call or email, and they’ll help you find materials. You’ll want to give them an idea of what you’re looking for, and for the kids, what their reading level is.
  • Allow 48 hours for your request to be processed. If your items are available, you’ll get a notification that you can come get them during the following hours:

Tuesday & Wednesday – 11am to 1pm / 2pm to 6pm (no pickup service between 1pm-2pm)
Thursday, Friday & Saturday – 10am to 12pm / 1pm to 5pm (no pickup service between noon-1pm)

  • When you arrive at the library, follow the posted instructions to receive your items.  Call or text the number provided in the instructions with your first and last name, and a library staff member will bring your items out to your car within 15 minutes.  Please remain in your car during the entire transaction for the safety of both yourself and library staff.

That’s pretty much it! If you don’t have a Puyallup Library card, you can sign up for one online or give them a call. If your card isn’t working, or you have questions about fines or so on, they can help with all that as well.

One note because I know a lot of us are doing decluttering: The library is NOT currently taking book donations, so you’ll need to find another home for those. Maybe your Goodwill, or a nearby Little Library, or your Buy Nothing group?

I included what I thought you most needed to know in this post, but you can also check the library’s FAQs here!

Don’t forget that you can also do the library’s summer reading program. While it’s gone virtual, it’s still awesome! They’ve had some amazing content via Zoom, and kids can still log reading and earn a chance at prizes.

I’ll also put a plug in for the library’s many online services. I use Libby to read books on my Kindle, and it’s AWESOME.

Keep in touch!
