Update-The Fireworks show at the fairgrounds in Puyallup has sold out. But, the City of Puyallup Parks and Rec has announced that Pioneer Park and the parking at the library will be open if you want to watch for free. I’m sure there will also be other areas around town with good viewing, since they’re, you know-up in the sky! Just keep it safe and legal, folks.
Yes! There will be a fireworks show in Puyallup at the fairgrounds this year.
So many things have been canceled due to Covid, so I was super excited to read that there will be a 2020 4th of July celebration-at least in Puyallup! It will be a drive-in (drive up?) fireworks show!
It’s going to be a bit different, in that it will be a drive up celebration, and you will need a ticket for this event, although if you don’t want to buy one, you’ll likely be able to see the show from spots around town, since they go up in the sky, right?
Here’s the rest of the details straight from the chamber:
About this Event
While we aren’t able to hold this event as we have in years past, we have re-imagined our annual 4th of July event as a Drive-In celebration! Brought to you by the Puyallup / Sumner Chamber of Commerce and Bill Korum’s Puyallup Nissan, the fun happens at the Blue lot at the Washington State Fairgrounds. Decorate your car (win prizes), enjoy streamed live music, prize drawings, food trucks, and a walking map to local dining. The evening will culminate with a spectacular Fireworks Display brought to you by MultiCare.
To gain entry to the Blue VIP lot, you must purchase your $20 vehicle pass in advance. Gates open at 5:00pm (all vehicles must enter by 7:30pm) and the first 1,000 guests will receive a U.S. Flag Bandanna which can be worn in a variety of ways, such as a neck gaiter or facial covering. There is an optional Family Fun Bucket ($10) with goodies for guests of all ages.
Safety protocols, modeled after our state’s Phase 2 Guidance for Drive-In Theaters, will be in place, including vehicle distancing, spacing at portable restrooms & food trucks, and facial coverings strongly encouraged in places where physical distancing is difficult (according to CDC recommendations).
Buy your VIP Blue Lot vehicle pass before they sell out!
If you’re looking for information about other fireworks shows or summer events, do check back. Many have been canceled, but some are still on, and quite a few are being moved to August. Keep in mind that things could always change again with the Governor’s orders and depending on whether we move up or down in the various phases. And I’m still not in charge of any of that!
