Welcome to our guide to free and affordable family fun all over the South Puget Sound! We have one just like it up every Friday! This weekend’s highlights include a fun event at the STAR Center in Tacoma Saturday, the return of library story times, a live dive experience with Harbor WildWatch in Gig Harbor, and more! We’re especially excited for Bedknobs and Broomsticks on the big screen Sunday! Read on for all of it. Zoolights, Tacoma – November 23rd-January 6th, 5:00 pm – 9:00 pm. Explore over half a million lights at the zoo, take a camel ride or get warm in the South Pacific Aquarium.
Indigo Frozen Fountain – Ice Skating at Point Ruston, November 14th – February 2nd. The Grand Plaza at Point Ruston will be transformed into a winter wonderland! Follow link for admission details and holiday hours.
There’s a skating rink in Auburn this year! Let us know about this if you go; we haven’t had a chance to check it out. Look under the, “Community Calendar,” for more info. Located in the heart of downtown Auburn in the Main Street Plaza (Corner of Main Street & Division Street across from City Hall). Purchase your tickets right across the street at Gosanko Chocolate. Tickets are $6 for kids (under 12) and $8 for adults (skates included). Open 7 days a week 3PM-7PM Mon-Fri 11AM-7PM Sat-Sun
There is also a new ice skating rink in Olympia this season! runs through January 6th

Free admission at this super fun spot from 5-9PM the first Friday of the month. They are now suggesting a donation of 5.00/per family. “Polar Opposites” is the theme tonight.

Barnes and Noble story time Most area stores offer a story time for children at 11am. We do suggest confirming with yours as we have found participation to be inconsistent. It’s a Clifford the Big Red Dog event at most stores.
Choose from two different classes for kids every Saturday. 2.00 or 5.00 per child, depending on class. Snowman theme today. Note: Use the drop down menu to choose the class near you.
Kids’ Workshop at Home Depot It’s a whiteboard easel today. You are now asked to register for these popular, Free kids’ building events. Be sure to choose the store near you when you register.
South King County
Jurassic Tour is at the Outlet Collection in Auburn through the 6th. This is a different company than Jurassic Quest, although it looks very similar. Reviews on this one are mixed. I do advise giving them a read before you decide if it’s worth it for your dinosaur lover as the tickets are on the spendy side.
Read With Rover at the Federal Way 320th Library 11am-12 Drop in and read with a patient, canine listener!
Join Arti Patel from the Washington Poison Center to discuss common household poisons, Mr Yuk as an educational prevention tool and home safety strategies. Arti will also discuss services of the Washington Poison Center. Mr Yuk stickers and swag will be distributed! 1-2PM
Visit the HCC Mast Center at Redondo The center and its touch tanks of sea critters are free and open to the public every Saturday from 10-2 Back open!
Puyallup indoor short track
Motorcycles and quads racing on an indoor dirt track. For all ages and size bikes; 10.00 admission; enter at the Green Gate; kids 6 and under are free 5-10pm
Free event open to the public. Free fitness classes and demos and free childcare for attendees (pre registration suggested to hold a spot). You can learn more at the event website and pre-register
A themed sensory experience for toddlers and preschoolers. 10:30
Family story time at Swasey 10:30 Stories, songs, and other fun learning activities for young children
Take an underwater journey of Gig Harbor Bay without getting wet (or needing special certification) through the Pier Into the Night experience! While you stay warm and dry on the dock, divers use an underwater video camera to live stream exactly what they encounter below the surface. Staff biologists and trained volunteers identify the plants and animals that appear on the 10 foot screen. Jerisich Dock; suggested donation of 2.00/person; dress for the weather! 5PM
Monthly celebration of community and the arts. 5-10pm! At the 7 Seas Brewing Co. 3006 Judson St. #110, Gig Harbor, WA 98335 Enjoy music, food, art, vendors, amazing beer and our wonderful community!! all ages; free Note from SFM: While not specifically a kids’ event, we’ve heard the Tacoma version is fun. OFS Kids Club at Capitol Theater presents a free showing of Mirai for kids 12 and under. More info. on the film via the link. Tickets available at box office 30 minutes prior to showtime.
Visit the LOTT Wet Science Center and learn about Rube Goldberg Machines today. The center and its activities are free.
Visit the South Sound Estuarium interactive marine discovery! Open 11-4 weekends; 5.00 admission for the whole family!
