South Sound Weekend Kids’ Calendar: Family Fun and Things to Do September 28th, 29th, and 30th

It’s another beautiful weekend full of fun, with a great festival at Nisqually, Paw Patrol in Renton, one of our favorite children’s performers in Auburn, and indoor and outdoor fun in Tacoma, Gig Harbor, Olympia, and just about everywhere else around the South Sound! As always, we’ve got links to everything you need to confirm the details before you head out! Make it a great one!

South Sound Kid's Calendar

There are more than 40 family events this weekend (not kidding!) so if you’re reading this from the home page, you’ll need to do one more click. I promise it’s worth it!

Friday

Paint to Learn at the Orting Library  Friday, September 28: 2:30pm – 3:30pm Create a colorful work of art while learning about shapes, patterns and numbers! Ages 2-6 with an adult. Online registration required for all attendees (kids and caregivers).

Friday Fun at Kobetich Library

Join us each Friday from 3:30 pm – 5:00 pm for a fun activity! Activities will vary each week, but will consist of Family Game Days, S.T.E.M. activities, crafts, and more!

Olympia Family Theater presents Corduroy Opening night! Various dates and times through 10/21

All Over

Almost every pumpkin patch and corn maze in the area opens this weekend! Check back at the site for our updated list if you need a new favorite.

Story time at Barnes and Noble “I Am Neil Armstrong,” story time and activities at 11AM at most stores. We do suggest calling to confirm participation.

Kids’ Club at Michael’s Stores 2.00/child for 30 minute sessions 10-12 It’s owl crafts today. There is also a family activity today from 1-3; purchase a craft pumpkin to decorate, and the rest of the supplies are provided.

South King County

Auburn Avenue Kids presents Alex Zerbe

With the energy of 1,000 suns, The Zaniac shines like a comedy beacon. Jaws will drop, as Alex bounces from one end of the stage to the other juggling bowling balls, flaming torches and slices vegetables in half with a flying playing card.  Tickets: $10. Sept. 24-30 is National Sea Otter Awareness Week – and Point Defiance Zoo & Aquarium is joining in. Each day of Sensational Sea Otters (Sept. 29-30) they’ll give their adorable otters Sekiu and Libby plenty of special treats and enrichments. Included with admission

Book sale at the Olympia Timberland Library

Nisqually Watershed Festival. 10-4 at the Billy Frank Jr. Nisqully National Wildlife Refuge It’s free, and you can make a salmon print t-shirt and learn all about the life of the watershed. Nice, flat trails here, including some stroller suitable. You’re asked to park off site and use the free shuttle. Great event!

It’s Salmon Saturday at the LOTT Wet Science Center today.

It’s a special time of year. Local salmon are finishing up their long, tiring journey and returning to their home streams to spawn. Come honor this amazing fish by creating salmon-inspired artwork to take home. Create fish prints, make a salmon button or hat, and more!
