Wowza! We’ve got a monster sized list of events for you this weekend, with lots of free Halloween and trunk or treat events for the kids around Tacoma, Puyallup, Auburn, and your town, too!

Plus, we’ve found fun, free things to do if you’d like to do something totally boo free (We get it)!

Do note that this list is for Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.

We do encourage you to use the links we’ve provided to confirm details before you head out. We strive for 100% accuracy, but at holiday times mistakes can happen, particularly with listings sent in to us.

This week we’ve organized the list by Multiple Days, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. Saturday and Sunday events are also organized by region.

Multiple Days

Any crafty readers out there? Bead Fest is in Tacoma the 26th-29th. Variety of workshops; kids 12 and under are free. Note that this post is from our blogging friend, Portia. I don’t have personal experience with this event. Let us know if you do!

Halloween Fun at Sunrise Village

Bring the whole family for this free fun event the evenings of October  27th and 28th! Booths, bounce houses, candy, and more!

Pee Wee Pumpkin Parade at the Mel Korum Y

All preschool age members and community members are invited to join us for a special costume parade that will take you on a trick-or-treating adventure throughout the YMCA!

Harvest Hoedown at the Orting Pierce County Library 2:30-3:30 p.m.

Enjoy stories, games and pumpkin decorating. Costumes encouraged. All ages.

Brooklake Harvest Festival   6:00 pm – 8:00 pm Brooklake Christian School Federal Way

$5 admission includes dinner, trick or treating, carnival games, cakewalk, & costumes are welcomed!

Landfillharmonic The Movie, Music and More at the Karshner Museum Puyallup 6-8:30 PM

The movie LANDFILL HARMONIC follows the Recycled Orchestra of Cateura, a Paraguayan musical youth group who live next to one of South America’s largest landfills. This unlikely orchestra play music from instruments made entirely out of garbage! Following the movie, participants can participate in music making activities or projects. Free, family event

Parents’ Night Out at the Children’s Museum of Tacoma 8 spots left; registration and fees required; costume night tonight!

Trunk or Treat at Life Center in Tacoma activities, games, and more fun

Metro Parks Tacoma hosts Free events for the whole family tonight.

All Over

Storytime at Barnes and Noble stores Most area stores do a free, weekly storytime at 11AM; however, we do suggest calling yours to confirm first, as we have found participation to be inconsistent. It’s Mary McScary and Creepy Pair of Underwear today.

Crafts at Michael’s  Kids can make a Vampirina inspired trick or treat bag from 10-12; 2.00 includes supplies; half-hour sessions; there is also free face painting.  There is also a last minute costume making event from 1-3PM-buy a t-shirt, and the rest of the supplies are included.

Halloween event at Target; trick or treating and Paw Patrol shows

Halloween Comic Fest  Many area stores are giving away free Halloween themed comics today. Some are hosting other fun in conjunction. Link will help you find a store near you!

South King County

 Auburn Avenue Kids Presents the Tortoise and the Hare
The classic tale Performed by Storybook Theater. All tickets 10.00 12-2

Halloween at the Shadow Lake Nature Preserve

Bogs are full of all sorts of tricks and treats! Join us for Halloween crafts, games, treats, and a spooky celebration at SHADOW Lake Nature Preserve. Take haunted tours, play spider games, enjoy crafts and family friendly fun! 2-4PM

Spooky Swims at the Covington Aquatic Center

Enjoy a swim with the lights out and a glowing pool! Pick from one of two spooky sessions and be prepared to have some gouhlishly good fun!

Two sessions From 5:00PM-6:30PM and 6:30PM-8:30PM-Register

Fall Festival at Riverview Community Church, Kent

Face painting, balloon animals, and popcorn! 4:00PM-5:30PM

Tricks and Treats Funfest, Federal Way

Costume contest, games and candy, prizes, and a haunted hallway at the Federal Way Community Center. Tickets are $10 for kids ($8 in advance); adults are free. They have separate sessions for age groups, which is nice for the littles! 3-6

Halloween Harvest Festival, Auburn

Join us at our FREE Halloween Harvest Festival and Les Gove Park Truck-or-Treat. There will be games, crafts, a photo booth, Trunk-or-Treating around Les Gove Park’s trail and lots more for your lil goblin to enjoy!  Lots of fun for Auburn’s Trick-or-Treaters!

Fear on the Pier, MaST Aquarium, Redondo 

Come help us put together marine mammal skeletons and learn how we prepare them! Take a close look at some of our creepiest specimens, brought out only for this spooky occasion! Watch divers compete to carve the best pumpkin underwater, hosted by Underwater Sports Federal Way! Admission is free and costumes are encouraged! See you there! 10-2

Howl & Prowl at Reber Ranch 

It’s the event you have waited for all year, Howl & Prowl! Get your costumes on and join us for an event like no other. There will be hayrides, kids crafts, and more pet friendly fun.

Beyond

Pumpkin Chomp and Stomp at Northwest Trek

Pumpkins, pumpkins and more pumpkins! Come watch our animals around the park explore pumpkins inside and out!

We encourage costumes, but adults should leave masks and scary face paint at home. Thank you! 9:30AM-3:00PM

Lego My Library Story Time at the Puyallup Public Library weekly Lego building and story time

Cinderella’s Tea Party at Rogers High School  Rogers High School is performing cinderella; special tea following the 2PM show today. You’re encouraged to get tickets in advance to hold your spot, and so that you’ll be seated together.

Halloween Origami at the Bonney Lake Library Learn how to fold monsters and bats for your Halloween decorations. Ages 7 and up. 2PM

Puyallup United Methodist Trunk or Treat and Fall Festival

Kassel Motorsports Trunk or Treat 3-5

Monster Mash with High Pointe Church

It’s the Mash! Bring the family and costumes! There will be games, free food, music, prizes for best costumes, and raffles. Please leave the scary costumes at home!   Emerald Ridge High School, 12405 184th St E, Puyallup, WA 98374 5-8PM

Halloween Trunk or Treat and Haunted Hallway, Celebration Lutheran Church, Puyallup

Trunk or treat for the littles and a Haunted Hallway for the big kiddos (It’s not super scary-probably PG ). “Trunks,” will be table stations inside so everyone stays warm and dry! 6-8PM All are welcome!

 Tacoma/South Tacoma

Family nature walk at Oak Tree Park
10AM Volunteer naturalists lead free walks. Advance registration is now required. Not suitable for strollers; perfect for ages 3 and up.

Spooky Story Time at the Seymour Conservatory

King’s books and the conservatory are teaming up to bring you an afternoon of spooky stories, geared towards ages 3-6 years old. Deadly puns! Boo hags! Ghosts! Lost gatos black! Join us for a frightenly good time.3PM  $3 suggested donation

Village Senior Living hosts their carnival from 2-4PM Trick-or-Treat! Please join us for a festive Halloween Carnival at The Village! Enjoy prizes, games and treats.

Haunted Theater at Tacoma Ballet  Backstage tour and short, themed dances. Magical not spooky! Various times; last shows today and Sunday

Interactive showing of Hocus Pocus at the Fern Hill Library

Join us to run amok at this hysterical interactive screening of the classic family film, Hocus Pocus. Attendees will feel like they are a part of the action by waving glow sticks, blowing bubbles, eating popcorn and more. Feel free to come in costume, but it’s not required. Rated PG. Limited to 30 attendees. First come, first serve. 2-3:30

Harvest Festival hosted by Discovery Community Church

Free family event at Giaudrone Middle School in Tacoma. Hosted by Discovery Community Church, kids ages 3-15 will have a blast. Everyone is welcome!

A Night at the Movies Costume Concert    

Tacoma Youth Symphony & Tacoma Young Artists Orchestra present a concert of familiar songs from movies you’ll recognize. Costumes invited! This is a scholarship benefit concert. 7PM

Day of the Dead dance performance at the Antique Sandwich Company

Join Sabor Flamenco for a traditional dance and live music performance with roots in Spain and Cuba. Suggested $5 Donation. This is an all ages event part of #TacomaArtsMonth. Note last year we filled to capacity quickly.

Make Your Own Glass Pumpkin at the Museum of Glass 10AM-5PM

Hilltop artists will be in the Hot Shop to help you create your pumpkin; participants will be picking color and shaping. Must be 12 years old or up. 60.00/45.00 members  Also Sunday; sessions can be reserved with prepayment or at the admissions desk

South Tacoma/Lakewood/Parkland/Spanaway

Trunk or Treat at United Methodist in Lakewood 1-4; food, games, candy, and prizes

Pacific Science Center: Space Odyssey Exhibit at the Lakewood Library Exhibit   1:30 pm – 4:00 pm

Explore meteorites, constellations and Jupiter’s storms. What would the Big Dipper look like from the other side of the universe? How much do you weigh on Venus? Find out answers to these questions and more! Drop in; no registration required.

Creepy, Crawly Halloween Event: Live Owl at the Parkland/Spanaway Library

Join For Heaven’s Sake Animal Rescue & Rehabilitation as they introduce different species of live owls from the Northwest. Learn facts about the owls and view them up close! All ages; under 6 with an adult. 2PM

Spooky Stories Around the Campfire at the Tillicum Library

Scary stories will be read at this spooky story time along with a pretend fire. Children are encouraged to bring pillows and blankets to sit around the fire. 2PM

LeMay Family Collection Trunk or Treat

Kids get to go from vintage car to vintage car getting treats from trunks!
Rain or shine…Enjoy a unique way to trick-or-treat! Trunk-or-Treat provides a safe environment for families to enjoy an inexpensive afternoon of Halloween fun in a neat atmosphere! Costumed children (age 12 & under) trick-or-treat outdoors by visiting car trunk hosts to get their bags filled with goodies.

There is no charge to participate – the more the merrier! Note from SFM-This is the collection site in Parkland/Spanaway; NOT the museum by the Dome.

Children and all ages shows at the Science Dome presentations and shows on the overhead dome at the area’s only indoor, digital planetarium.

St. Martin’s University Halloween in the Halls  Kids trick or treat in the safe and dry residents’ halls at St.Martins 10-noon *Look for listing on the calendar that says, “Community Halloween.”

Visit the South Sound Estuarium interactive marine discovery! Open 11-4 weekends at their new location.

Visit the LOTT Wet Science Center  The center is free and hosts special activities every Saturday. Learn about spooky creatures of the deep today. Presentation at 2PM; activities all day including anglerfish hat making

Boo Bash at the Hands-On Children’s Museum 10AM-5PM This is a great Halloween option for young kiddos! What makes a monster monstrous?

Study nature and imagination to discover your favorite furry beasts and learn why these monsters have been misunderstood. Look for bigfoot, dissect a sea creature, experiment with robots and make an artful alien! Activities include:

  • Print glow-in-the-dark silkscreen

Kitsap Steamsers Ghost Train

Kitsap Steamers Ghost Train

All aboard the Ghost Train through the Haunted Park! Tickets are $5 and benefit the Kitsap Foster Care Association of Kitsap County. These are miniature trains you actually sit on top of! It’s a short loop through the woods and should be lots of fun, though you may want to skip it if your kiddos are fearful of the outdoors at night.
