Ideas for Grandparents’ Day!

September 10, 2017 by Maegen Blue

If you’re looking for something to do with grandma today, or just something fun for your family besides watching the Seahawks (what now?), here is a list of ideas!

Sunday

Puyallup/Graham

Second Sundays at Morse Wildlife Preserve

Don’t miss your chance to visit this special place! Morse Wildlife Preserve is a privately-owned nature preserve open to the public on special days throughout the year, including Second Sundays from April through October. Nice, unplugged outing! Note from SFM: It’s a flat boardwalk should be suitable for most grandparents.

It’s Washington State Fair time!  Here is our guide to saving on your fair trip with a preview of what’s new for kids this year!

Note from SFM: Check out the Imagination Workshop. Air conditioned, benches to sit on, and kids can play all they want. If you’re fair going with the grandparents (or anyone who would rather have a sit down and relax time than get dizzy-I recommend it)! It’s 5.00/person, and it’s by the Red Gate. Check out the Fred Oldfield Center, too!

Tacoma/Spanaway

Downtown to Defiance

Join us for the 5th annual Sunday Parkways event, Downtown to Defiance! This free event is for people walking, bicycling, skateboarding, scootering, rollerblading– whatever human-powered travel mode you can imagine– to experience the beautiful Tacoma waterfront for almost 7 miles unencumbered by cars. Everyone is welcome to this annual open streets event, the only one like it in Tacoma-Pierce County, hosted by the City of Tacoma. 9AM-2
Grandparents Day at the Old McDebbie’s Farm
In honor of National Grandparents Day , we are honoring the senior citizens of the community – all those born before 1948 will get FREE admission to the farm.  Must present your ID to verify age.
