Meet a Mom Around the Sound: Carol in Puyallup

May 31, 2017 by Maegen Blue

We’re thrilled to announce the return of, “Moms Around the Sound,” now sponsored by Molen Orthodontics!

Do you recognize Carol? If you live in Puyallup, I bet you do! She’s a children’s librarian at the Puyallup Public Library, and the mom of two boys. We love her honest thoughts on juggling work and family, and we’re inspired by her family’s summer goals! I hope you’ll read on for more about Carol, and I hope you’re as excited as I am for the return of this series!

Tell us about your family

My family consists of me, my husband, our two boys (a 5th grader and a 3 year old), and our two cats.

Tell us about yourself-What are your goals, passions, or dreams?

I am a working mom, a librarian, who is always trying to find fun things to do with my boys around our hectic schedule. Sometimes there are so many things we all want to do that we can’t just sit back and enjoy each other’s company.

I love playing games with my family.  With all that we do going to soccer, gymnastics, choir practice, swimming, and dance classes (I recently started to take Irish step dancing classes), sometimes it can be difficult to find time, but when we do we always have fun.

For a long term goal, some day in the future when daycare expenses are no longer a part of my life, I want to go back to school and get my PhD. For a short term goal this summer, as a family we are going to go out and get some exercise by participating in some Fun Runs.

How would you describe your parenting style? What parts of parenting have been the most rewarding, surprising, or challenging?

For me and my husband, the most surprising and challenging part of parenting is spending the evenings alone with the children. Our work schedules rarely match, so we are not home at the same time in the evenings before bedtime. Sometimes there are lovely moments with the kiddos. Other times, after a stressful day at work I want to tag team the bedtime routine. Like other parents, we are continuously working to figure out a frustration free bedtime.

Tell us about your community-How long have you lived here? What do you love about your town?

I have been living in the Puyallup area for over 14 years now. I love it here! Most things are affordable and anything we want to do is not too far away, whether it is big city stuff or visiting a wilderness area. I also love the fact that my children are growing up with so much diversity.

We were delighted to present Carol a super fun basket of goodies from our friends at Molen Orthodontics. It included everything for a fabulous movie night with her family, plus new gear to get their teeth clean after (naturally), and a 250.00 gift card to Molen should anyone in their family decide to go in for treatment!

If you’d like to be a featured mom and get in on some of that, send me an email! Note that the gift cad is for new patients only.

We are incredibly grateful for the support of the community minded folks at Molen Orthodontics. We love Molen so much that if you message me I’ll give you my personal cell phone or email and tell you all about our experience! You can also book or chat online yourself!  Your first evaluation is always FREE, and 7 is the perfect age, although you’re Never too old for a healthy smile!

Keep in touch!
