Tacoma area Mother's Day Events

Mom and Son Dance, Puyallup – Mothers and sons enjoy an evening just for you at Meridian Habitat Park.  There will be dancing, games and crafts to enjoy together!  The music will be fun tunes that are appropriate for all ages and tastes.  $18/couple, $7/additional son; register online. Note from SFM-8 spots available as of writing. Go fast!

Bling for Spring, Mother Child Art Workshop – The Gordon Family YMCA invites everyone for a special time to enjoy a treat and live music while creating jewelry and long-lasting memories! Make sure to register before the event. From 6:30pm-7:30pm.

Point Defiance Zoo & Aquarium – Half price Mom’s Day at the zoo! All moms will receive half-off general admission. Note from SFM-An earlier edition of this post used an old picture of clouded leopard cubs. There is Plenty of cuteness at the zoo this year, but those cubs are all grown up. Crazy how babies do that! Sob!

Van Lierop Bulb Farm, Step by Step – Enjoy a variety of activities as you celebrate mom and family! Don’t miss out on the tea, hanging baskets, flower bouquets and more! You can even pre-order a hanging basket. From 10am-3pm.

Kids’ Maker Market Shopping and Crafting – Handmade PNW Events is hosting this family friendly event with 15 makers ages 3-18 years old! It goes from 11am-2pm at the Tacoma Arts Community Center. Note from SFM-We chose not to list other bazaars, but if you do know one with kids’ or Mother’s Day activities for kids to do for or with mom, please leave a comment!

PenMet Parks’ Mother Son Dance – Calling all moms and sons for an evening of dancing, games, refreshments, and fun! There will even be a professional photographer there. Tickets available online. Goes form 7pm- 9pm.

Kidical Mass Tacoma and Velofemmes’ Mama and Baby Ride – All are welcome to join or learn on this ride! There will be a test ride from 10am-11am and then the real ride begins immediately after.

Second Sunday Concerts in Tacoma -From 1:00pm-2:30pm, you can enjoy a live acoustic performance amiss the lush tropical flowers inside the Seymour Wright Conservatory. This month’s artist is the Pacific Northwest Chamber Ensemble. The cost is a suggested donation of $3.

Tacoma Art Museum Mother’s Day Brunch – Share the day over brunch at the museum! Tour the galleries, and enjoy a meal and a mimosa! Seating times offered at 10:00am (sold out), 11:30am, and 1:00pm. The cost starts at $45.95 per adult and $25.95 for kids 10 and under and includes brunch and museum admission. Make sure to make your reservation online!

Hands on Children’s Museum, Olympia – Don’t miss a variety of fun Mother’s Day activities and gift making! 11:ooam to 3:00pm.

A Song for Mom, Burien – ChoralSounds Northwest is delivering a choral bouquet to mom! The concert will be filled with traditional, popular, and Broadway favorites. Tickets are $20-25 and children 17 and under are free with a paid adult. Starts at 2pm.

Mother’s Day Zip Wild at Northwest Trek

Five exhilarating zip line/challenge courses run through Northwest Trek’s breathtaking tree canopy. Each course contains sections of zip line separated by barriers that must be walked over, climbed or crawled over, or clambered through. The challenges vary from course to course, but all require some mental toughness and physical agility. It’s a wild adventure for the entire family!

Mother’s Day Special — Sunday, May 14
A mother and child (ages 5-18) who complete a challenge course on Sunday, May 14 will receive a coupon valid for a 2nd FREE mother-and-child challenge course experience. Coupon is valid through Sept. 30, 2017 and includes Northwest Trek admission.

Mother’s Day TinkerTea Party Join Miss Darcy at Tinkertopia to make tiny hats, tiny broaches, and other wee cute things. Registration is required. 20.00 per participant and mom crafts for free!

2nd Sunday at the Morse Wildlife Preserve This special preserve in Graham is open to the public on the 2nd Sunday of every month in the spring and summer. Nice, quiet walk, and the kids will enjoy the boardwalk. Arrive by 3PM. Parking is very tight here; carpool if you’re bringing a group. More details here.

 

Ballet Northwest presents The Sleeping Beauty Ballet various shows Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. Ballet ends with various storybook characters. Lavish costumes and sets. At the Washington Center for the Performing Arts

Northwest Railway Museum, Snoqualmie – Take a train ride with the family during the weekend’s special schedule for Mother’s Day. Mom’s ride free when accompanied by a paying child!

Rhododendron Species Botanical Garden, Federal Way – Have an adventure in the garden with mom over the weekend! 10am-4pm.

Mother’s Day Weekend at Powell’s Wood, Federal Way – All weekend from 10:00am-5:00pm, enjoy garden tours, workshops, artists displays, tea, coffee, and scones, and live music. Admission is $7/adults, $5/youth, $3/children, and FREE/ages 5 and under.

Michael’s Crafting Events – Michael’s store are having a variety of crafting events for Mother’s Day all week. Check out the list for all your options and details!

Mother’s Day Tea Secret Garden, Sumner – Enjoy a 5 course tea that is garden-fresh! Tickets are $50 (includes tax and gratuity) and children under 12 are $40.

Meeker Mansion, Puyallup – Enjoy a Mother’s Day Tea for only $12/person at 12:30 and 2:00pm all weekend. Reservations are required.

Lakewold Gardens, Lakewood – From Friday-Sunday explore 10 acres of gardens, including the Asian inspired and formal gardens. A variety of shopping will be available to look through with mom!
