Free Kids Ticket To The Point Defiance or Woodland Park Zoo or Northwest Trek

May 1, 2017 by Maegen Blue

Heads up! We found out how you can get a FREE kid’s ticket to the Point Defiance Zoo, Northwest Trek, or the Woodland Park Zoo, and all you have to do is eat yogurt!

There really aren’t a lot of discounts or deals to these fun spots for animal lovers, so I’m excited to share this offer with you.

Here’s the deal:

This summer Stonyfield YoKids is partnering with AZA SAFE (American Zoological Association Saving Animals from Extinction) in order to help save the world’s most vulnerable animal species.

Stonyfield YoKids is also featuring an on-pack offer to get families out to visit any of the 131 participating AZA accredited member zoos and aquariums in their own communities. Look for specially-marked YoKids yogurt multipacks.  Buy two and you can receive a FREE kid’s admission to your local, participating AZA-accredited zoo or aquarium when you also buy an adult ticket. Read on for how to do this deal!

Participating zoos near us include

The Point Defiance Zoo and Aquarium

Northwest Trek

The Woodland Park Zoo

Please note I have confirmed that the spots above are all participating. I have also confirmed that the Seattle Aquarium is NOT participating.

To Get The Free Kid’s Ticket

Once you’ve bought your yogurt(s),  choose the spot you want to visit, and then upload your receipts. You do all that here at the Stonyfield site. I tested it out as much as I could, and it looks like you’ll get emailed your kid’s pass. Great, right?

The Fine Print

Here’s the link to the fine print on this offer. There are two main things to keep in mind. First, you do have to buy a full priced adult ticket to use this offer; it can’t be combined with other discounts. If you qualify for a military discount, you might be better off with that one, depending on the size of your family. Also, you can only use one free kid’s ticket per visit, and you can only get one pass per email. I’ll let you figure out whether it works for your family.  This promotion runs through the end of September 2017.

Other Discounts

If you don’t eat yogurt, you might be interested in this deal from the Tacoma Rainiers.

It’s a ticket package to a Rainiers game, and it comes with some great freebies!

We also have information on other ways to save a bit on your trip to Point Defiance Zoo here. Northwest Trek typically does a kids free event President’s Day weekend and one during November as part of a food drive.

Your kids may also have scored a free pass with a library summer reading program. Or you might check your Entertainment Book for a Bogo coupon (I don’t have a current one to check; if you do leave a comment if you find one)!

Otherwise, we typically recommend investing in an annual pass if you can swing it, unless you can take advantage of monthly fee days for City of Tacoma residents.

We have a zoo pass, but I’m personally going to use this deal to take my kiddo to Northwest Trek or Woodland Park.

Btw, If you’ve never been to Northwest Trek, I have an article here at Parent Map &

a post right here on their new playground.

If you’ve got a favorite tip for zoo or Trek or another awesome deal we should know about or maybe just a great recipe for yogurt…..do let us know! We love to read your comments and emails!

Our thanks for help with this post to NJ of A Cookie Before Dinner, the go to site for parents from Western Massachusetts!

My son loves yogurt and the PDZA, so this is fabulous for us. Thanks for doing the research!
