South Sound Weekend Kids’ Calendar: Family Fun and Things To Do April 14th and 15th!

Looking for something fun and free to do with the kids this weekend? We’ve got you covered with fun for kids in Tacoma, Kent, Olympia, Gig Harbor, and all over the South Sound, and yes, we’ve got lots of things to do that aren’t related to egg hunts and bunnies!

The complete list by day and area is ahead! Do use the links we’ve provided to double check details before you head out. These busy pre-holiday weekends are intense around here! These are primarily events Other than egg hunts, but we have provided links if you’re still looking for one of those!

Saturday

All Over

It’s a free day at Washington State Parks (no Discover Pass needed).

You can also get free entry to National Parks Saturday and Sunday

“Too Many Carrots,” storytime at most Barnes and Noble stores. We do suggest calling your location to confirm, as we have found participation to be inconsistent. 11AM at most locations

Kids’ Club at Michael’s Stores 2.00/child for 30 minute sessions 10-12 It’s a yarn bunny today. You can also get a discount when you sign up for kids’ summer classes today. Yipes-summer!

South King County

Visit the HCC Mast Center at Redondo The center and its touch tanks of sea critters are free and open to the public every Saturday from 10-2 They are doing a clean up event in the morning, but I believe the touch tanks are still open later.

April Pool’s Day events. Several area pools are hosting water safety events followed by free swim sessions.

Puyallup/Greater Pierce County

There are several Huge egg hunts in Puyallup today. Go here for that whole list. 

The Farmer’s Market opens today. Even if you’re not going, keep in mind the traffic etc….

Easter fun at the Old Cannery in Sumner
11:00am-4:00pm
The Old Cannery wants to help you celebrate Easter! Complimentary Easter Bunny photos, egg hunts and a petting zoo will provide lots of fun for the whole family. Everything is indoors, so the celebration continues rain or shine!

Lego My Library at the Puyallup Public Library Weekly stories and Lego building time 11AM

The food bank is doing their, “Candy buffet,” at the mall. For a 20.00 donation you can fill a basket with Way more than 20.00 of candy (great for Easter baskets), and the money buys food for area families in need!

Tacoma/South Tacoma/Lakewood/Parkland

April Pool’s Day at Norpoint, People’s Pool, and the Eastside Pool. Participate in a water safety program and then enjoy a free swim session.

Lego event continues at Freighthouse Square Last days!

Job Carr Cabin Craft Saturday 1-4 Make a spring noisemaker at this small but fun museum today. Admission is always pay-as-you-will

Sewing to Sowing event at Ft. Nisqually Experience an 1850s springtime with historians portraying  fort life. Try your hand at seed planting, hand sewing, and more. Admission is 8.00-10.00

Tweet, Tweet bird craft at the Fern Hill branch of the Tacoma Public Library 3PM

Family nature walk at Oak Tree Park volunteers lead free nature walks. Advance registration is now required. Not suitable for strollers; perfect for ages 3 and up! 10AM

Featured Sponsor: Children and all ages shows at the Pierce College Science Dome/planetarium Children’s show at 12:30 or 2PM; all ages at 3:15. The children’s show is shorter and interactive and now suitable for ages 3-12! Do bring cash or get your tickets in advance. This is a Great outing-especially on a rainy day, as it’s all indoors! NEW show!

Family Movie Matinee at the Tillicum Library 1:00 PM All ages; under 6 with an adult; Watch a newly released movie. Free popcorn and drinks will be served.

Block Play at the Parkland Spanaway Library 10:00 AM – 11:30 AM

Drop in and build! Kids under 6 should bring a favorite grown up.

Olympia area

There are several big egg hunts in the Olympia area today. Go here for our round up! 

Visit the LOTT Wet Science Center for tinkering today. Projects all day; optional treatment plant tour at 1PM for kids ten and up (closed toe shoes required).

Norway Day at the Thurston County Fairgrounds Food, entertainment, and other fun. Get me some lefse, will you? Yum….

HOCM presents robotics demos, hands-on comics, and more fun. Included with admission.

Peter Rabbit at Olympia Family Theater   Short, daytime show just for young children!

Gig Harbor/Kitsap

PenMet Parks Egg Hunt 12-2 Sehmel Egg hunt, bunny photos, petting zoo, and more fun. 2.00/child suggested donation

Egg hunt at Wild Birds Unlimited 10:30

Family Story Time at the Key Center Library 11:00 AM

Stories, rhymes, and fun for families with young children

Visit the Gig Harbor Farmer’s Market veggies, artisan crafts, and much more!
