Looking for something fun and free to do with the kids this weekend? We’ve got you covered with fun for kids in Tacoma, Kent, Olympia, Gig Harbor, and all over the South Sound! Make it a great one!

Kids’ Club at Michael’s Stores 2.00/child for 30 minute sessions It’s a flower canvas painting today. If you’re the plan ahead type, this would be a cute Mother’s Day gift for someone.

South King County

Visit the HCC Mast Center at Redondo The center and its touch tanks of sea critters are free and open to the public every Saturday from 10-2

Super Saturday at the Bethel Worship Center in Auburn movie, games, food, and more for kids 5-12 12-2PM

Try out ice skating in Kent Kent Figure Skating Club hosts an open house with games, activities, and classes for all ages

Puyallup/Greater Pierce County

The Friends of the Sumner Library Used Book & Purse Sale 10AM-4 Score a bargain on books and bags!

Spanish Story Time at the Fife Library 10:30 This story time is in Spanish. Enjoy art activities, stories, rhymes, singing and fingerplays.

Lego My Library at the Puyallup Public Library  Weekly stories and Lego building time 11AM

Gold and treasure expo at the Fairgrounds   I’m not sure how kid friendly this is, but it does look like they might get to learn how to pan for gold. General admission is 10.00; kids 12 and under are free. Also Sunday. Let us know how it is if you go!

Tacoma/South Tacoma/Lakewood/Parkland

Free movie at the Grand  It’s E.T.  Doors open at 9:30; movie at 10; kids under 14 need a grown-up.

Craft Saturday at the Job Carr Cabin Museum 1-4PM Make a bell craft to, “Ring in spring.” This is a small museum in Old Town showcasing the life of early Tacoma settler, Job Carr. The activities are always well done here, and admission is, “Pay as you will.”

Going Green at the Point Defiance Zoo Get it?? Learn about environmentally friendly practices; special activities included with admission. Note from SFM: The zoo does get spendy. We recommend investing in an annual pass unless you can take advantage of monthly free days for City of Tacoma residents.

Lego Mindstorms event at Wheelock Library. Sessions at 1:00 or 3:30. Kids build and program a simple robot. You do need to register; spots available in both sessions as of this writing.

Children and all ages shows at the Pierce College Science Dome/planetarium Children’s show at 12:30 or 2PM; all ages at 3:15. The children’s show is shorter and interactive and now suitable for ages 3-12! Do bring cash or get your tickets in advance. This is a Great outing-especially on a rainy day, as it’s all indoors!

Family STEAM Day at LeMay, ACM. Learn about robotics today. Special activities are included with admission. This is a fun spot, but admission is on the spendier side. Read more about this place in our review here. You can save 5.00 off admission in 2017 when you go on the 5th of any month as part of their 5th birthday celebration.

Family movie matinee at the Tillicum Library 1PM  Movies are newer to DVD, family friendly titles; popcorn and drinks provided

Green Thumb Explorers at Lakewold Gardens   children’s gardening workshops for kids ages 7-12; learn about birds and plan seed planting. More info. about this program here. You are required to register in advance.

Olympia area

OFS Kids Club Free showing of Fantastic Mr. Fox for kids 12 and under. General admission is 8.00/5.00 for members

Visit the South Sound Estuarium interactive marine discovery! Open 11-4 weekends at their new location. 5.00 admission covers the whole family

Visit the LOTT Wet Science Center and learn about robotics today.  Workshop at 2 requires pre-registration; other activities are drop-in.  The center is always free.

Gig Harbor/Kitsap

Family Story Time at the Key Center Library  11:00 AM  Stories, art activities, rhymes, singing and finger plays for families with young children

Any weekend fun: Your Michaels does usually do the craft. You can check out the touch tanks at the Skansie Visitor’s Center, see what’s going on at Discovery Village, or visit one of your great parks or trails.

Mini Maestros Concert at UPS  It’s “Jungle Jams,” today! Don’t miss this way cute introduction to classical music just for kids 3-8. Wear your safari gear and learn about how brass instruments can sound low or high-maybe even like a jungle animal! Be sure to go early for the, “Instrument petting zoo.” I know-can you stand the cuteness??

Corned Beef Dinner at St.Patrick’s Church in Tacoma hosted by the Knights of Columbus  hot dogs available for kids; Irish dance performance

State Parks are Free today-no Discover WA pass needed in celebration of the park’s systems birthday!
