Let’s keep our season of giveaways going with a prize I know you’ll be excited about!
We have three family packs of four tickets each to Zoolights, the annual light show at the Point Defiance Zoo!
Zoolights does close for Christmas Eve, but it is open from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. every other night, including Christmas Night and every evening through January 1st, including New Year’s Eve! This makes it a great winer break option, or perfect if you’re looking for something to do with the kids December 25h.
Haven’t been? Zoolights is an outdoor light show featuring
- 600,000-plus sparkling, energy-efficient LED lights
- 168 independent figurines
- 21 scenes containing an additional 118 figurines
- 6,790 lights in the new Walrus Family of three
- 10,296 lights in the Sea Life scene, newly moved to a new spot where it forms a backdrop for those frisky walruses. The Sea Life Scene stands 14-feet-high-by-30-feet-wide and includes a seahorse, jelly fish, two large swimming sting rays and two corals
- A 23-foot-high replica of Mount Rainier, complete with glistening glaciers
- 4,396 sparkling LEDs on an 8.5-foot-tall-by-22-foot-wide orange-and-white rock crab, complete with moving pincers
- 30,030-plus lights on the iconic green-and-purple Flame Tree (My favorite)!
And, of course, because you’re at the zoo, nighttime visitors can also see some animals: Sharks and other sea creatures in the two aquariums (a great place to warm up) and meerkats and other small animals at the kids’ zone (feed the goats)! You may also want to bring a little extra jingle to ride a camel (!) get some hot chocolate, and take a ride on the gorgeous carousel.
Tickets are 10.00 each for non-members if you buy at the gate, but the Best way for people to get tickets is online at www.pdza.org/zoolights or at the Customer Service counters of local Fred Meyer stores. Advance tickets are 8.50, so you’ll skip the line and save a few bucks, too! We also have a quick contest if you’d like to try and win some!
Ready to enter? Here goes!
- For a first, required entry, tell us why you’d like to go. If you’ve been before, we’d love to hear a favorite Zoolights memory.
- For a second, optional entry, tell a friend about Zoolights! You could share this post on fb, or feel free to Tweet your peeps, email your PTA pals, or whatever works! Leave us a comment and tell us what you did.
- For a third, optional entry sign up for our weekly emails. They come out on Thursday and are a sneak peek of the weekend events guide just for subscribers. Leave a comment and let us know you’ve signed up for it or already subscribe. Note that we will confirm this to keep things fair.
And, that’s it….All entries should be left as separate comments to improve your odds. Only comments are valid as entries. I will choose winners Friday evening, and I will do my best to get you your prize Saturday. Be aware, however, that this is dependent on zoo staff getting back to me, so winners may have to wait until after Christmas, as I’m not going to be online Christmas Eve or Christmas Day…thanks for undertanding about that! And good luck!

We would love to go, me and my two kiddos. It’s been a really crappy year and we need a break. An outing like this would take our minds off the stressful things. Thank you.
We haven’t been yet this year (have in the past) and it would be a lot of fun to get out! 🙂
I messaged a friend this post! 🙂
I’d like to go, I haven’t taken my son to the zoo yet so this would be a fun first experience.
I really want to take my daughters but couldn’t afford it this year. We really wanted to go tonight for my youngest daughter’s birthday.

It’s my son’s 2nd Christmas and he went last year at 2 months old and loved it! We can’t wait to take him this year because he loves looking at Christmas lights
We haven’t been able to go but its on our list of ‘maybe some day.’ Maybe this year could be our some day. Thanks for doing that giveaway.
I grew up driving around to see Christmas lights. I’ve continued this tradition with my family. So would love a chance to see lights at the zoo.

We just moved here from Salt Lake City, UT and would love to win tickets to the zoo lights! We have never been there before and our 3 boys would love it! Their ages are 9, 7 and 1. It would also be some good exercise for me as I am expecting our 4th boy, currently dialated at 2cm, 50% effaced so he could be here any day! I’m trying to do as much walking as I can! Thanks for the opportunity!

Love taking my kids every year. My daughter especially loves the camel ride and we missed it last year because it rained on the day we went. This year, I want to take my friend and her daughter who haven’t been to zoolights in a long time.

Already an e-mail subscriber and I have told others (friends!) about this page so they know where to try for tickets. <3 I would love to go because I've only been one time – 9 years ago – and it was such a fun memory. We were FREEZING, but I remember being so amazed by the lights. They were so much more beautiful than I thought they would be. It was fun to walk with everybody that was at the zoo that day. There was really a feeling of people coming together to enjoy the season. <3 Thanks for the chance! Merry Christmas!
We love the zoo but have never been to zoo lights! This would be so much fun!

We would love to see the zoolights. We went last year but it was pouring freezing rain and that was our first experience. This year I would love to take my three-year-old and 17-month old to see the zoolights. I think they would love it especially on a dry night! Thank you and Merry Christmas.
Earlier this year I was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis. Which has impacted our life in every way possible. Emotionally, financially and physically. Through all the hardships we have learned that family is more important than ever before. I would love to win tickets to be able to enjoy Zoolights with my four children who are 12, 11, 9 & 8.
It’s been several years since we’ve been and we have a few kiddos in our home that have never been. We’d love to give them their first zoolights experience!

I went to this once, years ago, with a bunch of friends. We were all dressed as pirates, and as we wandered around, we sang carols (of both traditional and pirate variety).
Now that I have two children, I’d love to take them to see the lights! 🙂
I shared this with all the co-workers in my office! 🙂

We have gone in the past, but haven’t recently due to cost increases. We would love to be able to take our nephews with us who don’t have opportunities to do these types of things. Getting some tickets free would help us be able to take them with our kids. Thanks!
