Upcoming Ready! For Kindergarten Classes

October 25, 2016 by Maegen Blue

If you’re the parent of a preschooler who will be starting kindergarten in the fall of 2017, I want to remind you about the great, Free program, “Ready! for Kindergarten.” These are fun classes designed to give parents and caregivers information about working with their young children, And participants get to take home some really quality, Free materials like books, puzzles, and educational games and toys. If you’re one of my Puyallup readers, there is a last minute chance to get in on one today, Tuesday the 25th! Read on for that and info. for those of you elsewhere, too!

Should we wait to start kindergarten

How to get in on one of these great classes? If you’re  one of my Puyallup readers, there is one more fall class Tonight-October 25th (short notice, I know…). You are required to attend one fall, one winter, and one spring class-so basically, you need to make tonight work, and then you have more choices for the next two.  They’re from 6-8PM , and there is child care for potty trained children.  You can sign up by going here.  It’s FREE!

If you’re one of our readers elsewhere, The Ready! for kindergarten website has a link to help you find out whether your district offers this program. It is in many South Sound districts, including Kent, Peninsula, Franklin Pierce, and others. If you’re one of my Puyallup area readers, but you can’t make this work at the last minute, there is contact information at the link above that I’d encouage you to use to find out about future opportunities.

Basically, ALL districts offer some kind of kindergarten readiness. This one will have the word Ready! with the exclamation point. If yours doesn’t offer it, you might ask about what they do have. In many districts there is a specific person in charge of early learning, so if you initially get a receptionist on the line who doesn’t know what you’re talking about, just ask for that person!

Do also read our post on kindergarten readiness. It’s an older one, but I wrote it with the help of actual South Sound experts, and I think you’ll find their thoughts on what kids should be able to do before starting kindergarten interesting and reassuring!
