Northwest Folklife’s Seattle Children’s Festival Sunday!

October 6, 2016 by Maegen Blue

I’m excited to tell you about a one day event coming up in Seattle this weekend that’s definitely going to be worth the trip! It’s the Northwest Folklife’s Seattle Children’s festival, a one-day, multicultural, inter-generational festival held on the Seattle Center grounds.

Families are invited to join in, “Celebrating Our Big Neighborhood,” as local communities introduce children to cultures and traditions from around the world through all kinds of awesome, hands-on activities and programs. There will be something for all ages, with live performances, workshops, and lots of opportunities for kids to play and get dirty. Here are just a few highlights

  • Explore, create, build and learn together at our hands-on areas. Families are sure to try something new, get their hands dirty, and have fun in the process. There’s lots to discover in both Discovery Zones in the Armory lofts and the Fisher Pavilion from 10:00 AM – 5:00 PM
  • In the Discovery Zone children can build a boat, play an instrument, cook with Chef Tarik (as seen on ABC’s “The Taste” and participate in a variety of interactive and hands-on activities.

It’s on Sunday, typically a slow day for family fun (there isn’t even a Seahawks game this weekend!) You will have to head to the big city, but we think this is an event that’s worth the trip. I know it’s so important to our family that our boys learn about and appreciate other cultures. Here are the rest of the event details!
Date: Sunday, October 9
Time: 10:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.
Price:  There is no admission fee; a suggested donatio of 10.00 per person or 20.00 for the family will help suppot the Seattle Children’s Fetival performers and production costs. The suggested donation is $10 per person, $20 per family. Your donation supports Seattle Children’s Festival performers and production costs.  You can get more information about all the festival happenings at their home page here!
Disclosure: We have received recognition as a media sponsor in exchange for sharing this great event with you. Do tell ’em we sent you if you have a chance!
