It’s a big weekend for small town fun with Milton Days, Bonney Lake Days, and Hudson Bay Days in Dupont!

Plus, we’ve found tons of free family fun in Tacoma (Don’t miss the kids’ gear swap with our pal, Allison) and much more all around the South Puget Sound! Just need to cool off? We hear you! All Over 

Kids’ Club at Michael’s Stores  Free this month! Drop in between 10-12; supplies included; parents must stay on site. Cinemark Movies Community Day  Free movies at all Cinemark Locations with 2.00 popcorn  various shows and times. Note: While it clearly says All theaters, I would Still call yours to confirm participation and check the show.

Bonney Lake Days – Friday/Saturday, August 19-20. This festival is VERY family friendly with Kids Zone, chalk art competition, parade, car show and more!

Renaissance Fair in Bonney Lake  Game of thrones, anyone? Get a giant turkey leg and have other merry old fun  Weekends through the 21st. Tickets required

Milton

Milton Days – Friday/Saturday, August 19-20. This festival is some serious small town fun. August 19 @ 4:00 pm – 9:00 pm Milton Community Park (Triangle Park),  This festival features carnival rides, a clown show, live music, games, vendors and more. Friday night enjoy music in the park with food for purchase and vendors. Saturday’s highlight is the parade beginning at 10 am with grand marshall Daniel Lyon. Festival also features interactive fun with the Mayor of Milton, Milton Police Department and East Pierce Fire and Rescue.

Puyallup

Hounds on the Hill August 20 @ 9:00 am – 3:00 pm Bradley Lake,

It’s a dog-filled day at Bradley Lake Park, Puyallup, on Sat., August 20, 2016. Leave your work at home and help us turn the park over to dogs and their owners for the day. Arctic Blast at the Point Defiance Zoo  Watch animals enjoy special icy enrichment activities. Will these keep you cool? ‘Um….no. There is a small splash pad for the kids in the kids’ zone, or go to Owen Beach afterward. The zoo does get spendy fast. We suggest investing in an annual pass unless you can take advantage of monthly free days for City of Tacoma residents.
Crafts of the Past at Ft.Nisqually   Artisans demonstrate crafts from the 1800s each weekend and volunteers i period costumes share information about fort life.  Included with admission; we went a few weeks ago and had a great time. It’s an outing best for school age children with some interest in history. Yes, I think it will be Hot there today. Also Sunday
South Tacoma/Steilacoom/Lakewood/Parkland-Spanaway

It’s Pet Parade time! Olympia Pet Parade 2016 9:30 am to 11:30 am Location: Heritage Park Olympia No need to register…Just show up! Lineup begins at 8:00 a.m. at Heritage Park Judging is 8:30-9:45 a.m. Parade starts at 10:00 a.m.Parade concludes at Sylvester Park. Free ice cream and goodie bags for participants. Prizes will be awarded. Donations of pet food are suggested and will benefit Concern for Animals.

Keep in mind that SR 167 is still closed from Sumner to Auburn, and I-5 in that area will also be thick as folks are detoured.

Update–An adult man drowned here yesterday. I would suspect at least that area will be closed, but I haven’t seen any announcement. Half off day at Wild Waves with a school supply donation-Yes, I think you can expect a very large crowd.
