South Sound Weekend Kids’ Calendar: Family Fun and Things To Do August 12th-14th!

Wow! Tacoma, if you need something free and fun to do with the kids, this is your weekend! It’s a festival of festivals! It’s also a great weekend for free in Auburn, Puyallup, Gig Harbor, and just about everywhere else around the South Sound!

Pierce County Fair, Graham  – Thursday-Sunday, August 11-14. This small fair has lots of animals on display and is an annual celebration of rural life  All weekend

Kids’ Club at Michael’s Stores  Free this month! Drop in between 10-12; supplies included; parents must stay on site. It’s a medal craft today.

Covington KidsFest August 13 @ 10:00 am – 2:00 pm Covington Kohl’s Property,

Covington KidsFest is just that…a festival for kids! All activities are geared toward kids including: the bike rodeo, inflatable rides/bouncers, meeting mascots, craft activities, and much more! Plus, get your child fitted for a free bike helmet, courtesy of Kohl’s and Seattle Children’s, while supplies last. Child must be ages 1-18 and be present and fitted to receive helmet.
 
 Puyallup/Greater Pierce County
An Enchanted Playdate at the Puyallup Activity Center-Daffodil Princesses, mini makeovers for girls and boys with a FREE professional photo, plus crafts,  Legos, and more! It’s an afternoon of Disney themed fun, and it’s all free! This is our summer, weekend reader event. Due to last minute cancellations, you can score a FREE family ticket right now AND a swag bag! Woot! if tickets are sold out, you are also welcome to drop in between 2-5PM. I just ask that you be flexible and willing to play at the park a bit in the very unlikely event we’re at capacity. Come on down!  
Cubs and Classics plane and car show at Thun Field in Graham   family activities, vendors  Would probably be lots of fun for your little transportation lovers!
McFinn’s Big Adventure at the South Hill Mall  Free launch party for the new kids’ club with balloon twisters, face painting, and much more! All free! 
Renaissance Fair in Bonney Lake  Game of thrones, anyone? Get a giant turkey leg and have other merry old fun  Weekends through the 21st. Tickets required

Frederickson Community Festival – Saturday, August 13, 9:00am-3:00pm. The annual Freddie Frest features a car show, chili cook-off, and local vendors.

 Brigade Encampment at Ft. Nisqually August 13 @ 11:00 am – 5:00 pm   Also Sunday

Travel back to 1855 during one of the largest museum events of the year as reenactors set up dozens of tents at Fort Nisqually Living History Museum. Brigade Encampment is Saturday and Sunday, August 13 and 14, 11 am–5 pm. The event recreates the bustle and excitement of the historic visit of fur traders to the Fort in 1855. A Day In The Park at Sprinker Rec-Community event for families in need 12-5  offers food, medical care, and other basics. 12-5  Note: I can’t find anything official on this, and I don’t know who is putting it on.
Children’s and all ages shows at the Science Dome  Low cost shows in the only planetarium of its kind in the area
