How many summer reading events have you been to so far?
We just love the summer reading programs at our libraries, and all the free things they offer for kids this time of year.
One event we want to be sure to highlight for the coming week is an appearance by Rhubarb!
Yep, the Tacoma Rainiers’ lovable mascot will be on hand to participate in a dazzling show of fancy footwork with Rene Bibaud Hotdog Jump Rope! Your kids will be blown away by a dazzling jump rope performance, and there will be plenty of audience participation!
Is Rhubarb light on his feet? I guess we’ll find out! Wear your sneakers and bring your cameras!
It all happens Monday, July 18th at 1PM at the Administrative Center Library at 3005 1112th St. E Tacoma, 98446 It’s a free, drop-in event, open to everyone 5 and up (I’m sure you can bring younger ones to watch).
Though Rhubarb will only be jumping during that performance, you can catch the show at several other locations the week of the 18th. Other Pierce County Library highlights this week include more puppet shows, several performances from magician Jeff Evans, and rock hounding and fossil presentations for older kids.
We list as many library events from all systems in our calendar, but this time of year it’s almost better to go directly to the library sites and search for something on the day that interests you. Remember you can participate in programs at any library, regardless of where you live, and thanks to reciprocal borrowing agreements, you can most likely get a card from any system, too! Here’s a quick link to the PCL calendar of summer reading events this week. You may also want to check out the calendar for otyer library systems near you!
Thanks to our lovely site friend Tabitha of Love,Tabitha for providing the pic of Rhubarb. We are proud to be partners with the Pierce County Library System, one of the very best in the country!
