South Sound Kid's Calendar

Friday

Family nature walk at Point Defiance Park 4:30 not suitable for strollers; perfect for 3 and up. Free, but space is limited, so registration is appreciated.

Saturday

All Over

 Story Time at most Barnes and Noble stores. 11AM   We do suggest calling your location to confirm, as we have found participation to be inconsistent. Activities follow

Kids’ Club at Michael’s Stores  2.00/child for 30 minute sessions 10-12 It’s a patriotic banner today (Red, white, and blue felt stars).

South King County

Visit the HCC Mast Center  at Redondo   The center and its touch tanks of sea critters are free and open to the public every Saturday from 10-2

Puyallup/South Hill/Sumner/Greater Pierce

It’s tent sale time at The Old Cannery all weekend  balloon animals, old-time photos, free hot dogs, and fun

Yes, the sprayground by the library will be on! The Farmer’s Market is always fun, too.

The spraygrounds are open in Tacoma. They’ll be on from 10AM-8PM daily, beginning today. They’re all free.

Indah’s Farewell at the Point Defiance Zoo  special chances to see the tiger triplets together before Indah heads off to another zoo. Note from SFM: The zoo does get spendy fast. We suggest investing in an annual pass unless you can take advantage of monthly free days for City of Tacoma residents.

Crafts from the Past at Ft.Nisqually Each weekend artisans demonstrate crafts and trades from the 1800s. It’s historical illustration today, and kids will have some chances to draw and color. Included with fort admission

Olympia Family Theater presents Frog and Toad  Also Sunday

Captain Little presents Kung Fu Panda 3 at Capitol Theater  Free for kids 12 and under; 8.00 general admission; doors open at 10:30

Visit the South Sound Estuarium interactive marine discovery! Open 11-4 weekends at their new location.  .

Gig Harbor/Kitsap

It’s street scramble time! Choose from 90 minute or 3 hour options. Race to visit as many checkpoints around the city as you can. It’s free!

Visit your farmer’s market!

It’s harbor festival time in Kitsap; kids’ activities include a STEM area and more. There is also a seagull calling festival in conjunction! 

The Gig Harbor Michael’s store typically does a craft for children every Saturday.

Sunday

Valve Cover Races at the LeMay Family Auto Museum (This is NOT the one in Tacoma). Build a racer out of an engine valve cover! Free, just for fun event for all ages. You should email to register if you want to create and race.

Historic Fort Steilacoom is now open for Sunday tours ** I think? Someone pointed out that it says Sundays, beginning Memorial Day. So….I’m not sure whether it opens today or next week. Let me know if you find out.

    I’m not sure if you post these things but I have researched parent’s (parents’) night out. A lot of parents forgo going out because they do not have a reliable sitter. I looked up and found quite a few places that do parents night out. Something that might be great for parents. 🙂
