Here is my round up of South Sound area locales offering Date Nights or Parents/Kids Night Out events.
These are typically pricier than paying a sitter, but you can skip the whole drama associated with finding one and persuading your kids to let you leave the house. I try to include these in my weekend list as space allows, but you may just want to bookmark this post for future reference, or sign up now and put a big red circle on the calendar!
The Federal Way Community Center offers regular Kids’ Escape nights from 5:30pm-9:30pm. Kids get dinner, crafts, time to swim and a movie! The cost is $20/child with a discount for pass holders. There is an additional $5 fee for late registration. Call 253-835-6934 for more info.
Kids ages 4-11 can be dropped off at the Gymnasium at Les Gove Park for an evening of games, arts, crafts, inflatable toys, and sports while the adults enjoy Parents Night Out. Pre-registration is required. Fee is $16-$20/first child and $10/$12/second child. Upcoming dates are February 27 and March 19.
Kids ages 4-12 can enjoy a night of fun, friends and gymnastics while adults enjoy Parent’s Night Out! The next event is February 13, from 7:00pm-10:00pm. The cost is $15-$20/child for the first child and $10-$15/ each additional child.
Lakewood Family YMCA, Mel Korum Family YMCA, Morgan Family YMCA, and Tom Taylor Family YMCA offer Kids Night Out one weekend a month. This is an overnight activity from 5:30pm on Saturday through 9:00am on Sunday for kids ages 5-10. Costs are $31/first child and $21 each additional child, with a discount for members. There are various weekends in February, and preregistration is required.
Every third Saturday of the month, parents can drop off their children for Kids Day Out. There will be swimming, crafts, games, and a snack. The event takes place from 12:30pm-5:00pm, and costs $15/1st child and $5/2nd child. Upcoming Kids Day Out events are on February 27 (register by 2/12) and March 19 (register by March 11).
Twice a month, the Children’s Museum of Tacoma hosts a Parent’s Night Out where children ages 3-10 can hang out, explore the museums plays capes, play games, create works of art and enjoy pizza and treats. Each Parent’s Night Out includes themed activities. The event runs from 6:00pm-9:00pm and costs $30/child and $15/additional siblings. Registration is required and you’ll want to do so early because they fill up fast! Upcoming dates are February 5 and 20.
Discovery Village hosts monthly Saturday Date Night at 5:00pm where parents can drop off their kids ages 3-8 for dinner, activities, and a movie.The cost is $30/child with a discount for additional children. Registration is required.
Every quarter, the HOCM offers Parents’ Night Out where kids ages 4-10 can enjoy activities, crafts, pizza and juice, and lots of creative play in the museum galleries.the Cost is $30/child and $20/additional sibling with a discount for members. per child; $20 per additional sibling. Pre-registration is required. The next event is Friday, February 13.
