Updated for 2018
Have you been out to the shores of Puget Sound to view the Argosy Christmas ships? It’s a really fun and FREE tradition to enjoy as a family. There is live music aboard the Christmas Ship, which floats into town, escorted by other follow boats or private boats, to make a lighted Christmas parade. The ship then anchors as the musicians perform. On shore, enjoy time with family and friends around a bonfire. Bonfires will only be held at Redondo, Dash Point, Brown’s Point and Suquamish Dock. Bring your hot cocoa and boots and enjoy this uniquely northwest tradition!
You can also board the Christmas Ship for a hefty price, with tickets ranging from $13.50-$39.
Here are the Christmas Ships stops around the South Sound. If you want to venture farther, check out the site for the full schedule.
Wednesday, December 5th
Choir: North Kitsap Northern Lights
1st Performance: Poulsbo Marina @ 6:30 PM
2nd Performance: Suquamish Dock @ 7:40 PM (bonfire at House of Awakened Culture @ 7:50 pm)
3rd Performance: Lemolo @ 8:45 PM
The Olympia Youth Chorus Cantabile will perform on Sunday, December 9, from 5:00 pm – 8:05 pm at two locations. A parade boat will follow the Christmas ship. In Tacoma, you will have to find parking on the street (which shouldn’t be too hard on a Sunday; also it’s free on Sundays).
In Gig Harbor, festivities begin early with Hark the Harbor at 5:30 pm with caroling. The Waterfront Alliance will be passing out songbooks and candles.
The Puyallup High School Norselanders perform on Monday, December 10, at 7:20 pm at Dash Point Dock and later at 7:55 pm at Brown’s Point Improvement Club. Bonfires at both locations! Parking is somewhat limited at both locations. Brown’s Point is tucked away in a neighborhood so you will likely have to park on the neighboring streets.
The Dickens Carolers perform on Thursday, December 13, from 7:20 pm – 7:40 pm at Des Moines Beach Park. The ship will then make another stop at Redondo Beach at 8:10 pm for a second performance and bonfire! There is plenty of parking at both locations, but there are fees – so plan to carpool!
