South Sound Sunday Fun! What To Do With Kids And Family Today!

August 9, 2015 by Maegen Blue

Sunday

Pierce County Fair continues in Graham

Eatonville Arts Festival Art on display,  vendors, entertainment, kids’ zone

Rosebud Children’s Theater presents Mary Poppins at the Federal Way United Methodist Church  Last show!

Ravenous! A talk about carnivorous plants at the Seymour Conservatory at Wright Park. 3.00 suggested donation

Renaissance Fair in Bonney Lake Game of thrones, anyone? There was a previous Groupon, but it sold out. Bummed you missed it? Subscribe to our emails!

Family Day at Emerald Downs-Pony rides, face painting, and bounce houses along with your horse racing. I believe these start at 1PM. Some activities are weather dependent.

Brigade Encampment Weekend at Ft. Nisqually Re-enactors portray various aspects of 1850’s fort life. Try out an old fashioned trade, watch a puppet show, and more.  Admission 5-9.00; under 4 free; family rate available

Crafts of the Past at Ft.Nisqually  Traditional crafts are demonstrated Saturdays and Sundays through the fall. This weekend it’s Punch and Judy puppet shows at 12:30 and 3:00 both days as part of Brigade Encampment weekend.  (Yep, those creepy wooden puppets like in Gone Girl).

It’s shark weekend at Point Defiance Zoo  Special, themed activities included with admission. Note from SFM: Zoo admission gets spendy fast. We suggest purchasing an annual pass unless you can take advantage of monthly free days for City of Tacoma residents.

Open Trails at the Morse Preserve in Graham  This quiet preserve in Graham is open to the public once a month. Nice, short walk for kids. Parking is very tight here.

Sunday Farmer’s Market at STAR Center in South Tacoma and the Center at Norpoint Many other areas now have a Farmer’s Market open on Sundays. Get your fresh on! The Auburn Farmer’s Market is another great choice.

Historic Fort Steilacoom is now open for Sunday tours

Visit the South Sound Estuarium   open 11-4 weekends
