Are you taking a Disney Vacation this summer? I’m thrilled to introduce our newest sponsor, Sabrina, of The Enchanted Traveler. She can help you have a vacation that’s all magic and no meltdowns! Read on for her three must know tips for taking young children to Disney.
Maybe you’ve been contemplating a Disney vacation, but you’re worried your preschooler is too young. First, let’s get that myth dispelled. Preschoolers are definitely not too young for Disneyland or Walt Disney World (read this for a full explanation). There are definitely ways to make sure that the trip goes smoothly, with as little stress as possible for both the child AND the parents.
1.Plan for a Mid-day Break. Don’t try to go until you drop with a preschooler-unless you want to send them into sensory overload and the inevitable meltdown! With a good plan, you can easily get the important things done in the morning and then go back to your resort in the afternoon for naptime, swimming, and just cooling down. Then, you can re-enter the parks with everyone feeling refreshed and ready for dinner and all the night time fun.
2.Don’t under estimate the need for a stroller. The average family walks miles and miles each day they are in a Disney Park. On my last trip, we tracked one of our days at 12 miles. That’s a lot of walking for many adults, let alone small children! If your child isn’t using a stroller at home anymore, you may still want to consider having a stroller for them during the vacation. If you no longer have one at home (or you don’t want to haul it), renting a stroller is easy. I much prefer third party rental companies to Disney’s strollers, though, because they are much more comfortable and you can use them beyond the park gates, while Disney’s stroller can only be used for that day, inside the parks.
3.Have a strategy. Showing up to the parks with no plan in hand almost always leads to long lines, melt downs, and disappointments. While some people resign themselves to the idea that Disney Parks always mean long waits for rides, this couldn’t be further from the truth. And, showing up with no reservations to table service restaurants often means incredibly long waits, or worse, no availability at all. Instead of winging it, have a great plan in place to minimize your wait times and maximize your fun. The easiest way to get an excellent plan and strategy is to use an expert to help create your plans. A specialist in Disney destinations will be able to customize a vacation just for you, show you how to avoid the long lines, and arrange everything FOR you so that you can just show up, stress free, and have a great time.
Taking a preschooler to Disneyland or Disney World for the first time doesn’t have to be stressful or overwhelming. It can be full of joy, wonder, magic and amazement! All it takes is a little behind the scenes know how to make sure the all the little details are figured out so that you, and your preschooler, thoroughly enjoy each day of your precious vacation.
