South Sound Weekend Kids’ Calendar: Family Fun And Things To Do March 20th-22nd!

Phew! Tacoma, you have so many fun and free things to do with the kids this weekend!

Don’t worry if your home is elsewhere in the South Sound, I’ve got lots of great ideas for you, too!  Read on for our fabulous list of South Sound weekend family fun!

Friday

It’s Free Day at the Point Defiance Zoo for City of Tacoma residents  Photo id and proof of residence required

Play all day with our friends at Wiggleworks at the South Hill Mall!

Lego Mindstorms at the Fife Library  5 spots left!

It’s always kids’ night out at Pump It Up on Fridays. Call for details and to hold your spot.

Stuffed animal sleepover at the South Hill Library  Enjoy a snack and a story and then drop off your animal for a sleep over. You’ll have pictures of all the fun your stuffed friend enjoyed when you pick up tomorrow! Registration is required.

Saturday

All Over

Kids’ Club at Michael’s Stores  It’s crayon resist card making today. 2.00 per child/ sessions start on the half hour from 10AM-11:30  For ages 3 and up

South King County

Touch tanks at HCC Mast at Redondo  Free and open to the public every Saturday from 10-2

Auburn Avenue Kids presents American Tall Tales  stories of Paul Bunyan, Johnny Appleseed, and more  Tickets are 8.00

Tacoma/Greater Pierce County

Mud Run at Swan Creek Park 9AM  You can still register day-of, but it will cost you 35.00. Family friendly course with lots of obstacles and mud!

Free showing of the Lego Movie at the Grand

Tea Party With A Princess    11AM Join the Daffodil Princesses for tea and stories at Mottet, Wheelock, or the Main branch of the Tacoma Public Library Registration is required-follow the link to the calendar and then click the hyperlink on the event of your choice to sign up; there are spots available as of this posting.

Lego My Library at the Puyallup Public Library  Build Lego creations inspired by stories or your imagination  Free, drop in events perfect for ages 3-8 11AM

ManeStage Theater presents the Miracle Worker in Sumner

Pippi Longstocking at Tacoma Musical Playhouse  Ongoing show times

South Tacoma/Lakewood

Summer Camp Fair at the STAR Center in South Tacoma  Free admission 10AM-1PM  **Yes, we will have a big summer camp guide up at the site.

Saturday morning stories and songs at the Summit Library 10AM 30 minutes of stories, songs, and rhymes followed by a simple craft and block play  For families with young children

Lego Mindstorms for girls at the Summit Library  A special invitation for girls and young women 8-18 to come learn how to program a simple robot 2PM Registration required

Family Dance: Off to Neverland   If you missed other father/daughter dances, here is one for families at the STAR center. Evening event

Family movie matinee at the Tillicum Library Free, drop-in events. Films are newer, family releases; call for title. 1PM

Easter Egg Hunt for ages 10 and under at Bayview Thriftway

Free showing of the movie Hop! at the Capital Mall 6PM  The Easter Bunny arrives, followed by a free movie. See more Easter events in our big guide! Just click the link in the menu bar or the graphic in the sidebar. If you want to get bunny photos, look into getting a, “Fast Pass.”

Our Only May Amelia from Olympia Family Theater Ongoing showings of the adaptation of the Newbery Award winner about a plucky 13 year old girl living in Southwest Washington in 1899. Recommended for ages 8 and up.

Visit the new South Sound Estuarium  10AM-3PM

Visit the LOTT Wet Science Center  Free and open to the public every weekend It’s one of their semi-regular tours of the wastewater treatment plant today. Participants must be 10 and up and wearing closed toe shoes. Slideshow followed by the tour at 1PM.  There should be activities at the center for younger children.

Gig Harbor/Kitsap

Early learning jamboree and kindergarten registration at the YMCA  lunch, play, opportunities to meet community organizations, and time to register for kindergarten with Peninsula School District representatives.

There are several ongoing theater opportunities today, or it’s your last chance to score bargains at Just Between Friends Olympia-most items are half-off today!  9AM-2PM-free admission for all today

Or, you may want to make your own phone today! Henry and I did some jumping yesterday because he (his words), “Needed to get my bounce on.” You’ll find lists of all those places in the menu bar. Over here, the sky is clearing, so we may try to have some outdoor adventures. There are lots of ideas for those up top, too!
