Home Depot Kids’ Club   Kids can build bookends today. Readers suggest arriving early for these popular, free workshops. You are asked to register online.

Kids’ Club at Michael’s Stores  2.00/child for 30 minute sessions between 10AM-12. It’s a personalized door hanger today.

South King County

Kent Kids’ Art Day  10.00 admission gets kiddos a full afternoon of hands on art activities led by teachers and artisans. Free for grown ups and kids 2 and under. This is a Great event for your creative kids. The boys and I have gone before and had a ton of fun.

Visit the HCC Mast Center  at Redondo   The center and its touch tanks of sea critters are free and open to the public every Saturday from 10-2

Tacoma-South Tacoma, Lakewood

South Sound Sustainability Expo  Free event for the whole family  Information on sustainable living, kids’ corner, mini farmer’s market, book and clothing swap, and more fun

Tacoma Youth Theater presents the Snow Queen  Free, live performance of the classic (before Frozen!) at the Wheelock Library 11AM

Jacobsen Jr. Concert at UPS  Annual family concert featuring trumpet, saxophone, and more, playing lively, kid friendly music  Free for kids 5 and under and 10 year olds (special anniversary deal!). 5.00 for everyone else. 3PM  This would be a good event for beginning band students.

Free showing of Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day.…at the main branch of the Tacoma Public Library

Snake Lake Science Fair 1:30  See science projects created by local homeschoolers and other students. Might be a good way to inspire your younger student for next year. Be sure to spend some time around the playground and take a walk around the lake.

Dog Days event at Bass Pro Shop  Bring your dog for a free pet photo and other fun

Visit our friends at Jozee Rooz Indoor Petting zoo!  Now open regularly on weekends!  You can read my post here for more info. about this fun place.   Meet goats, rabbits, yaks, and special guests!

Children and all ages shows at the Pierce College Science Dome/planetarium  Children’s show at 12:30 or  2PM; all ages at 3:15. The children’s show is shorter and interactive. It’s Amazing Aurora today. All ages is Undiscovered Worlds. You do want to buy tickets in advance or bring cash. No cards are accepted at the door.

Knights of Veritas performance at the Lakewood Library Kids 6 and up are invited to see sword fighting demonstrations and learn about real sword fighting in the middle ages. The boys and I have seen this group in action a couple of times. It’s very interesting and not dangerous. Yes, your kids will want to hit each other over the head with everything in site afterwards.  2PM

Pier Peer in Tacoma  Children 8 and up are invited to a night time exploration of sea critters. Adults must accompany kids; 8.00 per person; reservations required.

Olympia

Ethnic Celebration in Lacey  Free event at St.Martin’s with dance and music from around the world, hands-on crafts and activities for kids, and food and craft vendors on site

Lion Dance at the Lacey Timberland Regional Library  Traditional performance to celebrate Chinese New Year

Visit the South Sound Estuarium interactive marine discovery! Open 11-4 weekends at their new location.  You may want to call to confirm hours before you go.

Visit the LOTT Wet Science Center  free admission and science based activities every weekend. Link opens a pdf with detailed info. for each date. It’s game day today. Enjoy, “The Drip Stops Here,”  “Ocean Bingo,” or other fun choices

Mother/Son Palapalooza  Moms or Mom figures and sons pre-k-5th grade are invited for an evening just for them at Capital High School 35.-00/pair  Reptile man appearance and more fun!

Gig Harbor/Kitsap

Pier Into The Night with Harbor WildWatch 6-8PM   Free! Head to Skansie Brothers park to see sea creatures brought up be a diver. Volunteer naturalists will be on hand.
