Welcome to the Sounds Fun Mom Halloween Events List. Below you’ll find fun, family events around the South Sound.

Scarecrow Festival at Sehmel Park  community celebration kids’ zone 2.00/child  pony rides/5.00 October 4

S’more than you imagined in Auburn  Outdoor community event with bonfire and smores October 4

Oktoberfest at the Puyallup fairgrounds children 12 and under are free; adult admission 10.00; half off on Sunday  Children welcome until 7PM Saturday and all day Sunday   food, drink, weiner dog races, kids’ zone    Readers have been split on how fun this is for kids. Let me know what you think

Fright Fest at Wild Waves  Rides,haunted houses, scare free area for kids under 12 and live entertainment. Online tickets are 22.99 for anyone over 48″ tall, plus tax and processing. This is a 5.00 discount off gate admission. You can get the same price at participating Safeway stores.  Kids under 48″ are 9.99. Last year, there were coupons at Spirit Halloween stores, and a 5.00 off deal one night with a donation.  I don’t see info. on either of those offers right now, but I’ll update this if I find out. I haven’t been to this. If you have, I’d love to hear your thoughts!  Weekends in October

Tinkertopia Masks and Costumes workshop  use re-purposed materials to make masks and wearable creations. Not specifically a Halloween event, but I don’t know why you couldn’t make something to wear for the big day! October 10th in Fife, 11th in Lakewood, 15th at Summit. Registration is required. Find the date and location of your choice via the calendar and then look for the link to sign up.

Orting PumpkinFest October 11th live entertaiment, kids’ costume parade, bounce houses, lots of pumpkin treats for sale

Harvest Fest at Norpoint  Free community festival  October 17th   5:30-7:30  games, crafts, bounce houses, and more

Movie Night at the Enumclaw Aquatic Center  Swim-in for a showing of Hotel Transylvania October 17th

Truck and Tractor Day in Lakewood  12-3PM  Free admission, free hard hats for the kids, and free pumpkins!  Tour the park on a free hayride! October 18th  

Haunted Theater at the Tacoma City Ballet Special back stage tours of specially decorated rooms.  Costumed dancers and a performance. Children are invited to wear costumes. The theater is Beautiful. Don’t be scared by the title-this is an event most children preschool age and up will enjoy.   Tickets are 5.00 and 6.00 and performances are select Friday, Saturday, and Sundays from the 18th-26th.

Dupont Fire Department Pumpkin Give away Date TBA  11AM-3PM Tours of the fire station, safety tips, pumpkins for the kids while supplies last. Canned food donations accepted, blood drive on site. Low cost helmet sale.

Black Cat Fun Run Choose 2.5 or 5 mile course around 5 mile drive at Pt.Defiance  35.00 includes long sleeve t, glow sticks, and beverages. Walkers, kids, and dogs are welcome. This is an evening run, and the course is Dark-be sure to read the info. October 18th 7PM

Night Walk at the Tacoma Nature Center  October 18th 7:30-9 for ages 7 and up. 6.00 per person. Special night time trail walk. Cocoa and cookies after. We’ve done this and enjoyed it, although we didn’t hear or see any nighttime creatures-probably because it was pouring rain. Ah, memories!

Zoo Boo at the Point Defiance Zoo Watch the animals enjoy special Halloween and pumpkin themed enrichment activities. Free with admission ( Zoo admission is spendy; SFM recommends investing in an annual pass unless you can take advantage of free days for city of Tacoma residents). Get 2.00 off general admission if you come in costume. October 18th and 19th

Haunted Trails in Fircrest Spooky walk at Gilmur Park 7-8:30  admission is by 3.00 donation for the food bank October 23rd Link opens a pdf. Event is on pg 3  This is probably not for little ones (or maybe even bigger ones!) but I wasn’t sure.

Harvest Fest at Miracle Ranch in Port Orchard  Hay maze, wagon rides, arts and crafts, and more fun.      I have more harvest festivals here. 

Champion Kids Extreme Halloween TBA  party at the Tacoma area church for kids 1-11  games, popcorn, candy, and more!

Kitsap Steamsers Ghost Train 6-9PM

Woof, Woof Walk Bring your costumed canine pal for a fun walk around Spanaway Park. 20.00 for the 1st dog Saturday, October 25th  Seriously, I LOVE dogs in costume! Who doesn’t?

Harvest Festivals with Metro Parks Tacoma  Free community festivals with crafts, bounce houses, games, and more! Portland AVE, Star, Center, and People’s Center October 25th

Haunted Tunnel and Pool at King County Aquatic Center in Federal Way  TBA

Hoot n Howl at Northwest Trek Special Friday and Saturday event at NW trek with night time tram rides and treats and activities.  We’ve done this before. Honestly? The boys loved it, but I thought it was a little pricey. I do see that they’re offering a discount for advance purchase. The tram ride is pretty cool, just do keep in mind that you’re not going to see a lot of creatures because, well, it’s Dark!  October 24th and October 25th

Trick or treats funfest in Federal Way  (link opens a pdf)  smores, games, carnival, and more  6.00 pre registered; two times depending on child’s age  October 25th  Link opens the digital version of the parks brochure. Event is on pg. 2

Kiddigits Halloween event at the Tacoma Mall  TBA

University Place Presbyterian Hosts a Harvest Fest 2-4:30  games, treats, costumes TBA

Bonfires, Beaver Pelts, and Boogeymen Night time story telling event at Ft.Nisqually October 24th and October 25th. Buy tickets online in advance

Halloween Harvest Festival in Auburn October 25th Washington Elementary 2-5  Games; face painting and more. Trick or treating at downtown merchants. Wear your costume and bring a food donation-toy weapons checked at the door!  Louie Foxx magic show (tickets 8.oo) at the Auburn Avenue theater at 2PM same day

Pumpkin Walk in the Dark in Auburn October 25th 4-8PM  illuminated pumpkin walk, hay bale maze, and more! 5.00 person or 10.00 family  carved pumpkins needed for the walk! Family and pet friendly

LeMay Museum Trunk or Treat Kids get to go from vintage car to vintage car getting treats from trunks! Free  October 25th  Note this is at the events center, not the Tacoma Dome museum

Ride the Pumpkin Express with Mt.Rainier Scenic Railroad   Rides on October 25th and October 26th  Kids get to pick a pumpkin at the end of the first stage. Tickets are a spendy 22.00-26.00 Pricey, but definitely fun for train lovers. You can read our review here. Be sure to read the comments for more input from readers.  Note that the MRSR does come up on deal sites frequently, though you can only use the paid value on special rides.  But, if you would just be in it for the train ride, and don’t care whether it’s a, “Pumpkin Express,” you may want to hold off for a future deal. KWIM?

Halloween Event at the Museum of Flight October 26th free admission for kids in costume; special Halloween flight themed activities (think broomsticks and bats)!
