The Tacoma Maritime Fest is coming up this weekend, and it’s full of my very favorite thing-free fun for your family! Woot! You can imagine how excited we are to be media sponsors.
The Maritime Fest is a celebration of Tacoma’s history, and it’s full of free things to see and do.
There is a zone just for kids with a marine touch tank, arts and crafts, and more. Henry loved hanging out with the pirates!
You can also watch the, “Quick and dirty,” boat building competition, check out boats of every size and description, and generally thrill your little transportation lovers.
Oh, and if you go on Sunday you can get a free boat tour of the Port of Tacoma. This is an amazing, once-a-year opportunity to get an up close look at the big container ships in the port. The rides are Sunday only, and you do need tickets. Those are first come, first serve, and yeah-I’d plan on getting there at 9AM to snag one. I’d also suggest not over promising to your kiddos, because these can be hot tickets. It’s definitely worth a go, though. And did I mention they’re FREE? You can get more information about the boat tours here.
The whole event takes place on Dock St. by Thea Foss Park and the Foss Waterway Seaport Museum. This page has a great list of options for getting there.
Admission to the Maritime Fest is totally free. I would bring some cash in case you need to pay to park or want to buy food. The last time we went a few of the kids’ zone activities also had extra charges.
You will find plenty to do and see for no cost at all, and if you have a little one who loves boats or things that go, I think he’ll love it!
If you went to last year’s event, I’d love for you to leave a review!
Disclosure: Sounds Fun Mom is a media sponsor of the Tacoma Maritime Fest and received compensation and promotional consideration in exchange for this post. As always, the opinions are my own, and I appreciate you mentioning the site to the organizers if you go! Thanks for doing that!
