Smithsonian Free Museum Day is coming up September 27th!
This is a once a year event, where anyone who registers can score two free entry passes to many area museums.
Now, almost all of the museums in this list also participate in other free entry programs, such as the library pass program and third Thursdays in Tacoma. The Children’s Museum in Tacoma continues to be pay-as-you-will for another three years.
My suggestion is you choose one that rarely offers discounts, like Fort Nisqually, or if you’re just not someone who likes to hassles with library passes or free days, there are lots of kid friendly choices-the history museum in downtown Tacoma is a favorite of ours.
Note that you are allowed two free passes per household, so you’ll need to plan on paying for children, or anyone else you bring along. Oh, and when you get your tickets you get a free digital subscription to The Smithsonian. I don’t know if anyone but me is excited about that, but I thought I’d put it out there.
For a list of every South Sound area museum offering free entry with a library pass, you’ll want to see this post. It also has info. on free days and coupons. What South Sound museum is your kids’ favorite?
