Updated for 2018
A quick reminder for my military readers that The Blue Star Museum program is back this summer with free museum entry for military families around Tacoma, Seattle, and the South Puget Sound.
This outstanding program offers free admission to participating museums for all active duty, National Guard, and reserve personnel and their families all summer through Labor Day.
In Washington, there are many outstanding museums participating, including the Museum of Glass and the history museum in Tacoma locally, and the Burke and the Flight Museum in Seattle (If you have a kiddo who loves dinosaurs, science, or nature, do make a point of hitting the Burke this summer). Better still, the program offers entry to the card holder and up to 5 family members, so you can take all the kids! the military ID card holder does not have to be present, so you can go even if dad or mom is deployed, and there is no limit on the number you can visit this summer!
You can see the full list of participating museums here. More information about this program is here. If you’re not a military family, I hope you’ll consider passing this scoop on!
The rest of us have options for free museum going with a teensy bit more planning. You can read this post for how to get free museum passes from the library and a round up of area museums’ free days
If you have an EBT card, Nikki at Low Income relief has a great round up of offers available to you.
Speaking of great freebies, we’re rolling out summer content all week long, like our round up of free kids’ concerts in the park. You might want to subscribe to our weekly emails so you don’t miss any of it!
