Straight Talk On Straight Teeth With Invisalign Teen

July 1, 2014 by Maegen Blue

I recently had the opportunity to learn about Invisalign Teen, a clear alternative to traditional braces for tweens and teens. I was really excited because as you can see, there are definitely some braces in our future.

Smile for Invisalign!

Yep, he’s cute, but that rabbit look he’s got going in the front-not so much. His older brother’s are actually worse, which is part of why he refuses to pose for big, toothy photos. I’m really hoping to get his smile back in the picture when we get them fixed.

I had braces (and an expander and rubber bands) for several years when I was a teenager, and while I’m grateful to have a straight smile (I promise, Mom), I also have some not-so-fond memories of having a mouth full of metal. I also remember not being able to do things-like eat corn of the cob on the 4th of July!

Our older son also plays trumpet and soccer, both of which we have heard can be tricky for kids in traditional, metal braces.

The difference with Invisalign Teen is that the aligners are clear And removable! Kids can take them out to floss, pose for special pictures, or play sports or instruments! Plus, they don’t have to go around with the, “Mouth full of metal,” look during those already awkward years.

Cool, right?

Invisaign Straight Talk

I was also glad to get the, “Straight Talk,” about some common myths about Invisalign Teen.

Turns out their clear aligners works as well as traditional braces without the wires and metal, and treatment costs about the same! It’s also a myth that Invisalign Teen can only treat simple cases. Turns out, it’s  been used to successfully treat a whole variety of issues including (‘ahem….) overbite!

The Invisalign Teen product also comes with special indicator dots so you’ll know if they’ve been worn the right amount of time, and you get six free replacement aligners, too!

We have our first appointment for our 11 year old coming up, and we’re all crossing our fingers that he’ll be able to use Invisalign Teen. If you’re curious about what the process might look like, there is a cool infographic here.

If you’d like to find out if this product is right for your family, you can get lots more information about how clear braces from Invisalign Teen are a great alternative to traditional braces here. You can also check out their website, or find them on Twitter and Facebook.

There is also a Sweepstakes right now with an  Amazing chance to WIN FREE Invisalign treatment! How great would that be? You can enter here viaRafflecopter.

You can also enter on Facebook –( head here if you’re on a mobile device).

Of course, only a dentist can tell you for sure if Invisalign Teen is right for your child, and not all dentists have had the training to use these products. To find a dentist experienced in Invisalign and Invisalign Teen just head here and select, “Find a Doctor.”

Our first appointment with our 11 year old is coming up, and I’ll be sure to keep you posted!

Did you have braces when you were a kid? Have you found out if your kiddos will need them too?
