South Sound Weekend Kids’ Calendar: Family Fun And Things To Do June 27th-29th!

It’s a great weekend for family fun around the South Sound. The list this weekend is full of outdoor adventures and things to do with the kids in Puyallup, Tacoma, Gig Harbor, Olympia, and just about everywhere else around the South Sound.  Lots of them are Free, too!

Taste of Tacoma at Point Defiance  free admission; charge for food tastings  also vendor and community booths and a stage with kids’ entertainment

Saturday

All Over

Kids’ Club at Michael’s Michael’s offers 30 minute craft sessions for kids for 2.00 from 10-11:30. I believe it’s a 4th of July event, but the site has taken down the June events already, so please do check with your store before you head out . You may also want to read about their Passport to Imagination summer program-open for registration now.

South King County

Discounted Admission continues at  Wild Waves through June .   Buy online for 14.99. The current regular admission price is 19.99.   One note for thrill seekers-some slides have been removed while they make room for new ones (scheduled to open in July). I got reports it was packed, and parking was crazy last weekend. You might want to go on a less-than-totally sunny day.

Rock-It! Science at the Eatonville Library 2PM  Find out about gold!

The sprayground at Les Gove in Auburn is on, and readers report the surface has been improved and seems less slick. Yay! Leave a report if you go!

Greater Pierce County- Puyallup/Sumner/Orting/Graham

Bicycle Rodeo with the Puyallup Police Department  Head down to the City Hall parking garage for free helmets, free safety checks, and more!

 Read with a dog at the Puyallup Public Library Kids can drop in for a little reading practice with Clover the dalmatian. He’ll be there between 3-4.

Buckley Log Show  Junior log show today plus parade and a variety of demos in speed climbing, chopping, and more!  Thanks, Hillary, for the reminder.

Tacoma

Your spraygrounds are open!

Visit the Job Carr Cabin Museum in Old Town Open 1-4 Wednesdays-Saturdays  Small, cabin replica   A quick outing, but fun for children and free (donations welcome).

Crafts From the Past at Fort Nisqually Local artisans demonstrate different crafts each weekend through September 3rd.  Included with admission. I think demos. will probably only interest older children, but kids of most ages enjoy exploring the fort. It’s finger weaving today.  Included with admission

Family Golf Day at Williams Golf Course  Kids golf free with a paying adult and get a free taco

Family movie matinee at the Tillicum Library  1PM  family friendly, newer dvds  Call for title

Children’s and all ages show at the science dome at Ft.Steilacoom  Low cost astronomy shows in an indoor planetarium cash only at the door, or buy online. Children’s show at 12:30 or 2 is on asteroids and meteors; all ages at 3:15 is Life: A Cosmic Story

 Dupont/Lacey/Olympia

June Jubilee Tractor Show at Wilcox Farms tractor pulls, farm tours, and hay rides   Also Sunday  Free

Leap for Frogs festival at Yelm Middle School  race registration is closed but the festival is free and open to all. Learn all about frogs and enjoy frog themed activities.

Visit the LOTT Wet Science Center  The center is free and open to the public every weekend. Non toxic product event today-make your own natural lip balm! Starts at 2 and is best for ages 11 and up

Gig Harbor Area

 Get Your Feet Wet with Harbor WildWatch  Low tide events with volunteer naturalists   Free; Three different beaches   You’ll need a DiscoverWA pass for state parks.

Shrek the Musical at Paradise Theater

The trolley is back!  .50, free for kids 5 and under.

Gig Harbor Farmer’s Market is now open!  Kids music is on the calendar for 9AM, though there aren’t any other details on that.

Water’s Xtreme Journey Exhibit continues at the Harbor History Museum

If you’re in the area, check out your new playground at Crescent Creek Park!

Craft at Michaels The Gig Harbor store does a craft for children every weekend. Call for details.

Gig Harbor Sunday Farmer’s Market at Skansie Brothers Park  Take a Trolly?  The STAR Center in S Tacoma also has their Sunday market now (it’s next to the new playground and sprayground).

 Fathoms of Fun continues in Port Orchard 

Historic Fort Steilacoom is now open for Sunday tours 1-4PM through Labor Day
