If you’ve got a Point Defiance Zoo membership, you might want to head there tomorrow evening for Member’s Night!
It’s 6-9PM, and there will be behind the scenes tours and other special fun, just for members.
I DO recommend getting a zoo membership unless you’re a City of Tacoma resident, and you can take advantage of monthly free days.
Memberships aren’t cheap, but they pay for themselves in just a couple of visits, and this is a great outing to be able to do any day, especially with young kids. It’s also nice not to have the pressure of feeling like, “You have to get your money’s worth,” even if someone really needs a nap.
The zoo has some other interesting programs and openings scheduled, including Sharkmania!
You say it’s already a zoo at your house? I can help with that! Just check my summer guide (You’ll find a clickable graphic in the sidebar or a pull down menu up top) for dozens of fun ways to keep them busy and get you all out and having fun! Among other things, Michael’s has already begun their popular summer craft program for kids, Passport to Imagination.
We went to this last year and it was fun, planning to go back this year – lots of keeper talks, including one where they were feeding the tigers in the open exhibit, so we got a very up close and personal look at the tigers moving around more than they usually do, and even getting into the water. Also saw some animals that are usually not on exhibit, being carried around by keepers, and of course there were free carousel rides 🙂
