Here is a list of things to do with the kids on Memorial Day, as well as ceremonies that we think should be reasonably family friendly.

Memorial Day Observances and Ceremonies
Monday, Memorial Day, the 28th
I can’t speak to how kid friendly any of these are, but they’re all local and open to the public, and I think any child who can be attentive for reasonable stretches of time would be very welcome. Let me know if you’ve been to any of these.
Ceremony at Mountain View Funeral Home at 2PM in the Garden of Honor
Pierce County Veterans Advisory Council and Mountain View Memorial Park invite you to the official 2018 Joint Services Memorial Day Ceremony.
Join us in the Garden of Honor at Mountain View as we pay tribute to the men and women who served and sacrificed for our country. Flowers will be available for purchase on Monday. Free hot dogs!
Memorial Day ceremony in Tacoma at War Memorial Park We heard from readers that their kids did well at this one last year.

Family and Kids’ Events on Memorial Day
Free BBQ at the Old Cannery in Sumner Free hotdogs, soda, and family fun. Pro tip: If you buy a couch this is no longer a frugal outing.
Half price admission for military families at the Hands-on Children’s Museum in Olympia. Lots of fun activities for all!
