Go here for the lists of cheap kids’ movies for 2016!
It’s almost time for cheap summer movies for the kids! I’ll remind you about these, but here’s the rundown if you want to plan on some now.
Not familiar with these great programs? Theaters run them to bring families in, and it’s a great way to entertain the kids. Movies are typically older ones, but you still get the big screen experience! How crowded it is depends on your location. If you want to comment on that, please do!
First up, the Summer Movie Express from Regal. There are Regal Cinemas through out the South Sound. Shows are at 10AM on Tuesdays and Wednesdays, beginning June 23rd. Here’s the complete schedule!
- Week 1

Annie - Week 2

The Boxtrolls - Week 3

Turbo - Week 4
Rio 2
How To Train Your Dragon 2 - Week 5
Mr. Peabody & Sherman

There is also a summer movie program at Cinemark.
In the South Sound, there are Cinemark locations in Federal Way and Olympia. These movies are also 1.00 a piece, or you can buy tickets advance at the price of 10/$5, which is only 50 cents a movie!
Here’s that schedule for Federal Way
Here’s that schedule for the Olympia location. Shows begin the 16th and 17th of June and run through the 18th and 19th of August.
There will also be free, outdoor movies at parks all over the South Sound this summer, and I’ll include all those in my weekend guides and calendar.
Not interested in any of those options? Check out this guide:
We’re also rolling out lots of other great posts on cheap summer fun this week. Be sure to check in often! Or, head to our Summer Guide for a giant list of ideas!

I was looking up the info for the Lorax at the Grand, and wasn’t able to find it. Would it be possible to get a link or something? I saw How to Train Your Dragon on the 21st, through Click! I didn’t see Lorax, and we’d love to go! 🙂
Gig Harbor does free outdoor movies during the summer.

Hi, Megan,
Thanks so much! I’m planning on doing a separate post featuring community outdoor movies. We’ll also have as many as we can in the weekend round ups and on the calendar! That’s a great line up.
How much is it for parents to see the $1 movie. This might be a stupid question but is it also $1 for the parent?
It’s 1.00!
