Updated for 2016
It’s a special, “School’s Out,” edition of Sounds Fun Mom for your Monday, with A Dozen Things to do With the Kids this President’s Day! I know many of you have kids with several days off. If that’s you, don’t forget there are always hundreds (thousands?) of ideas to explore here at the site.
In the meantime, here are some ideas to fill your President’s Day!
Join the Great Backyard Bird Count
Play at the Children’s Museum in Tacoma Admission by donation; special Monday opening!
Meet Northwest animal friends at Kids n Critters at NW Trek Up to 4 children get in free with each paying adult. Special activities, too. Adult admission is around 18.00 Spendy, but you get a pretty full day of fun, and this is the best discount Trek does, especially for larger families.
Go wild! The Point Defiance Zoo is open Monday. It is still closed Tuesdays and Wednesdays until March. The zoo is spendy; SFM recommends investing in an annual pass unless you can take advantage of monthly free days for City of Tacoma residents.
Skate and save with Cheapskate pricing at Sprinker Cheapskate ice skating sessions almost all week
Roll at a Schools-out Skate Session at Tiffany’s in Puyallup Special afternoon time today. Regular admission and rental applies, and it does add up. On a budget? You might want to go on 2.00 Tuesday, tomorrow! Sunday they’re offering bogo admission when you bring a peanut butter donation. Check their fb page for details on that. Tacoma readers might want to check Rollin 253.
Explore the Hands-on Children’s Museum in Olympia. Special President themed activities and Monday opening today.
Thrift it up. It’s half-off day at Value Village.
Stay warm with my lists of Indoor Play Options in the menu bar-Check these before you go; parks dept. locations are likely closed today.
See a show! Here’s our guide to indoor bargain movie theaters around the Sound.
We also have some ideas for Mid-Winter break fun right here.
