I don’t know about you, but that snow day was just what we needed. While I do love it when the boys get to miss a day of school, it was nice to get some on a day dad was home to play. Henry kept pounding me with snowballs and yelling that he was my childhood. Apparently, he thinks my childhood was pretty rough! He’s right that I’ve been needing a little attitude adjustment, though. January was a great big month of blech around here. So far, February is really kicking its butt! Moving on….
Here are a few highlights from the calendar this week:
Monday (Today!) South King County readers can go to the Outlet Collection (aka the Supermall) for one of their free, monthly events for preschoolers. This one has a Valentines theme. Meet by the play area. I know this is late notice. For future reference, these are always on 2nd Mondays from 10AM-11.
If you’ve been meaning to try the indoor play park in Fife, Tuesday, there is a, “Special treat,” on the calendar. I don’t know what that is! If you find out, let us know.
Wednesday the truly outstanding story time is back at the conservatory in Wright Park. Kids hear science and nature themed stories amid the beautiful flowers (It’s warm!!) and do a related science project or craft. The theme is, “Red,” this month. Adults are 3.00 and kids under 12 are free. My only caution with this one is that the conservatory is really not suitable for strollers or for any child who might pick a flower (and eat it)!
Thursday, just in time for Valentine’s Day, the Orting Library has a free art activity after school, with all supplies included.
Thursday is also a, “Pay As You Will,” performance of Winnie the Pooh at Olympia Family Theater. The show itself is at 7, but you can purchase tickets with a cash donation beginning as early as 12. There are ongoing shows at the regular price for the next couple of weeks. This looks super cute!
All week long there are Play and Learn story time events with libraries and community partners. Of course, Friday is Valentine’s Day-or, “Pink Halloween,” as I’ve started calling it. Maybe I’ll come up with a Pinterest worthy craft for you. Or maybe not…..we’ll see….I do have lots of fun posts planned on area outings and events, and as always, I love to hear what you’re up to. I’d also love to see more of your snow day pics over on the Facebook page!
For more ideas for the week, and details and links for all of the events I mentioned above, just check the calendar!
