Mom Reviewed: A Trip to the Root Beer Store!

December 16, 2013 by Maegen Blue

Hey, Puyallup, have you been to the Root Beer Store yet?

It’s the newest branch of a mini chain that specializes in-you guessed it-root beer!

Puyallup Rootbeer store

Henry walked in on our visit and declared, “I’m in heaven!”

The employee on our visit was very welcoming and helped us choose from among the HUNDREDS available. Some root beer has a smoother taste, while others have a little more, “Bite.” He explained that this is typically a licorice taste.  I thought he did a nice job steering us towards styles the boys would like (No, we didn’t try the  bacon flavored root beer)!

They also have some other unique and nostalgic sodas, plus some sweets and a smattering of root beer products. Most of the root beers are priced in the buck and change area, making this an affordable, quick treat. The boys had a great time marveling at the selection and looking at all the creative bottle names and designs.

You should know that right now this is strictly a place to buy root beer. There are plans in the works for parties and food (root beer floats coming soon), but for now, this is a soda shopping excursion. If you’d like to make it more of an event, you could always organize a taste testing party!  CoreyAnn and some of her friends at AdventureBee did and had a lot of fun.

There are regular taste testings a couple of Saturdays a month. I think the best way to stay in the loop on those is to stop in and join the mailing list, or like them on Facebook.

The store is open from 10AM-10PM Monday through Saturday (Closed Sundays), and it’s at 12020 Meridian Ave. E – Plaza II Shopping Center-it’s that one sort of behind the oil changing place-they’re right next to the music store.

Great place to go for something different than what the big brands offer, though they carry those as well, and some other unique flavors. The staff was very knowledgeable and everyone in my family was able to find something they liked. I would highly recommend a visit.
