The Fransiscan Polar Plaza opens for skating this Friday!

polar plaza

This annual, temporary outdoor ice skating rink downtown is becoming a Tacoma tradition. If it’s on your to-do list this holiday season, you might want to go Sunday with folks from The Children’s Museum.

They’re calling it a skating party, and you just need to go here to register. 4.00 will get you both admission And rental skates. That’s a great deal since a regular admission without skates is 8.00 for grown-up and big kids and 4.00 for kids 5 and under.

Full disclosure-I still haven’t been here, but the boys and I have had fun at other ice rinks. I did make them wear helmets in the past because head bonks are at the top of my personal fret list. Germs and bugs don’t phase me much, but I still freak over a head bonk. You’d think I’d be over it by now! I

You can see regular hours for the Polar Plaza and their planned special events, too, at their website or on their Facebook page.

If you’re looking for a good deal during the rest of the season, your best bet is to buy a family pack from Costco.
