UPDATE: The Northwest Santa folks have opened up more slots and added areas in response to demand! If you’re in the JBLM or greater Tacoma area, you may be able to get a visit! As of this writing on 11/23 at 6:00PM there are 33 open.
And, can I just say…..some folks over on their Facebook page have been disappointed that St.Nick isn’t headed their way, or is all booked up. While I totally get that, this is an All Volunteer organization made up of folks giving up time with their own families, so leaving grumpy remarks….well, I just don’t get that……I also have a feeling they could use more volunteers for their wrapping team, so if you’ve been looking for an opportunity this season, you might want to think about joining! If you missed the initial post, read on for the details!
Are you looking for a Santa visit for a child with special needs, or a Santa photo op that will leave some money for the…..’ahem….elves? Well, if you can’t get to Santa, I want to tell you about a very special group that can help Santa get to you!
NorthWest Santa is in its 4th year of sending St.Nick out for personal visits. Santa will come for a home visit with children under 10 or children with special needs of any age. This year his sleigh is making stops in Puyallup, Orting, Sumner, and Bonney Lake. His visits are absolutely free, though he is glad to accept donations for the food bank.
Can you imagine what a thrill this would be for your little one? I think it’s a particularly great opportunity if you have a child with special needs or sensory issues who can’t handle the, “Busy,” of a traditional Santa visit. To sign up for your Santa visit, just head here. The site will also tell you much more about this remarkable group and their work. You can also find them on Facebook.
Note: I apologize if my original post was confusing. To clarify: Santa will come visit any kiddos 10 and under! I emphasized children with special needs only because I thought it was a particularly nice idea for those families, but yes-Santa will gladly visit any kiddos, and I can’t think of one who wouldn’t be thrilled!
Reader Olive has had Santa to her home several years and tipped me off to this great program. If you had Santa come to your house last year, leave a comment. I’d love to read your reviews!
