Here’s the scoop on the MegaBrands/MegaBloks sale in Fife and the Scholastic warehouse sale in Auburn. A lot of you have been asking about these, so feel free to pass it on!
Never heard of these fun events for bargain hunters? MegaBrands makes Mega Bloks, Rose Art art suplies and kits, and lots of other goodies. A few times a year they open their warehouse in Fife to the public. Yes, it’s really a warehouse sale in a warehouse! If you’d like to check it out for yourself, its at 2511 70th Avenue East in Fife
Sale hours and dates:
November 21st and 22nd 11:30-6:30
November 23rd 9-5:30
Here are a few more tips:
- Bring cash: There is an ATM on site, but it has fairly high fees, and more than once it’s been out of order.
- Leave the kids at home: This is obvious, right?
- Wear layers: It’s a warehouse, so it can be chilly!
- Mind the lights and the road: The warehouse is on one of those streets that seems to be perpetually under construction. The intersection right before it also has a traffic camera that is no joke. Make sure you’ve come to a good, long stop behind the line before you try a free right on red. Yes, sadly, I speak from experience!
Since I very first wrote about this sale, they’ve added shopping carts, and I’ve never had issues with crowds. The shopping itself is sort of hit or miss for me. I used to use this sale to stock up on gifts to have on hand for birthday parties, but now that the boys have gotten older, I mostly stick to art supplies. I’d love to hear your best tips, too!
Another sale coming up is the Scholastic Books Warehouse Sale in Auburn and Tumwater (I’m pretty sure there was an Olympia location last year, but it looks like it’s moved to Tumwater). These are great sales for book lovers or those of you looking to stock a classroom or homeschool library. You’ll find both scratch-and-dent and mint condition titles for as little as 1.00. You can register for a fast pass and get a coupon, too, if you think you’ll be doing some serious shopping! Now, it does say that these sales are just for teachers and book fair volunteers. I will tell you that I’ve been to these several times, and I’ve never, ever, even once, been asked for any kind of i.d. If the idea makes you nervous, you can always register as a homeschooler, or grab a teacher friend to go with you!

I think you can apply most of the tips above to this event as well. I haven’t shopped one in a couple of years. I do remember getting a little carried away and having a Very heavy load to take in from my car!
and, finally, several of you have asked about the Toysmith warehouse sale in Sumner. I don’t have any scoop on this one yet, but I have a call in, so check back here for updates!
Big thanks to my pal, Angela, of The Coupon Project, for the scoop on the MegaBrands hours. If you haven’t discovered The Coupon Project yet, this is a good time to do it. She’s great at rounding up Christmas bargains, especially if you’re a fan of Amazon shopping!
Do you have any info on the Mega Bloks warehouse sale yet this year 2014?
Sadly, they have quit doing them.
