I’m very excited to have the scoop for you on this year’s Lise and Faith Memorial Run coming up on Saturday, August 17th, 2013 at the Heritage Recreation Center on South Hill.
This annual event honors the life and legacy of Lise and her daughter Faith, who were killed by a tired driver while she was out on a run during a family vacation. Her many friends and loved ones organized the first run to support her family. Last year’s run supported local mom Audra Brown in her fight against cancer. She is now cancer free, and I can’t wait until we get the same news about this year’s honoree, 6 year old Damonick.
Damonick is a student at Puyallup’s Sunrise Elementary, and he is currently fighting Ewing Sarcoma on his spine. All the proceeds from the race will go towards the costs of his medical and living expenses.
The event includes a 1k, 5k, 10k, and a free kids’ run. There will also be face painting and a bubble station for the kiddos, and the 5K and 10K will be chip timed. Cool, right?
If you register by August 9th, you’ll get a t-shirt, so do it now while you’re thinking about it! Registrants get entered for some pretty cool prizes, too.
You can learn more about the run and get registered right here. It’s a beautiful tribute, and I can’t think of a better cause. It would be super fun to do with some pals, too, so be sure to pass it on!
