South Sound Sunday Fun

July 21, 2013 by Maegen Blue

Here are some ideas for South Sound area fun seekers.

History in Tacoma, Art in Gig Harbor, Ponies in Auburn, Lakefair in Olympia….oh, and low tide exploration just about everywhere!

Sunday

Many areas now have farmer’s markets open on Sundays. Find one a new favorite here.

Crafts of the Past at Fort Nisqually Each weekend, artisans demonstrate a craft that would been used in the 1880s. While not a total bargain, a trip to the Fort is fun for most children and a good resource if you have one doing some kind of report. .  Also Sunday

Family Day at Emerald Downs  Sundays, beginning at 1PM  pony rides, face painting  free with admission; weather dependent

Meet Us at the Beach  Join volunteer naturalists  to see creatures revealed by low tide. 10AM at Priest Point and Burfoot Saturday   10:30-1:30 at Tolmie Sunday  You need a Discover WA pass for Tolmie.

Last day for Olympia’s Lakefair

Gig Harbor Summer Arts Festival  Saturday 10-6 and Sunday 1-5  Artists showing their work, plus children’s activities, vendors-“Chalk the walk,” chalk drawing contest in conjunction  Harbor Wild Watch will be on hand at Skansie Park, and you can look for face painting near Mostly Books, among other fun!

Covington Days  continues Community Festival

There are also quite low tides this morning. See my post on low tide exploration for beach suggestions and when to go.
