South Sound Weekend Kids’ Calendar: South Sound Family Fun for Kids and Families for July 5th-7th!

Looking for fun kids’ activities today? If you live near Tacoma, Auburn, Lacey, Puyallup, Gig Harbor, Olympia-or somewhere in between-I’ve got you covered!

South Sound family fun is right here! As always, there are also plenty of adventures to explore in the fun-finding menu up above!

Saturday

All Over

Kids’ Workshop at the Home Depot  Advance registration now required for these popular, free workshops. Kids do a free, hands-on building workshops and get an apron. This month’s is a Despicable Me movie tie-in.

Kids’ Club at Michael’s Stores  2.00/child  half-hour sessions while you shop in-store   Craft is summer games today

South King County

Black Diamond Miner’s Day

Families can visit the restored Mary Olson farm in Auburn for free on Saturdays and Sundays all summer   While not a huge outing, it’s fun and neat for the kids to see.

Water Weekends with HCC Mast at Redondo Every Saturday visit the center for free from 10-2 and get up close with sea critters in their touch tanks  Octopus graduation today

 Saturday Story Time at Southcenter Barnes and Noble  11AM  Every Saturday; perfect for ages 3-7

Northwest Vintage Races in Kent  Hundreds of vintage cars on display and racing. Adult tickets are a little spendy, but may be worth it if you’re interested in vintage cars.

Tacoma/Greater Pierce

The spraygrounds are On in Tacoma! Free, open 10AM-8PM

Arts and Crafts Day at Learning Sprout Free event 10-2

Plant Conservation Day at the Point Defiance Zoo  Special plant activities and enrichments for the animals  Included with admission   Zoo admission gets spendy fast. SFM recommends investing in an annual pass unless you can take advantage of monthly free days for City of Tacoma residents.

Family Nature Walks with Metro Parks Staff 10-11 at Swan Creek or 1-2 at Wapato   Free, but sign up required. Not suitable for strollers or children under 3

Crafts of the Past at Fort Nisqually  Each weekend, artisans demonstrate a craft that would been used in the 1880s. While not a total bargain, a trip to the Fort is fun for most children and a good resource if you have one doing some kind of report. .  Also Sunday

Lacey/Olympia/

Visit the LOTT Wet Science Center  Arts and Crafts all day; tour of the Budd Inlet Water Treatment Plant at 1 for ages 10 and up (Closed toe shoes)

Join naturalists from the South Sound Estuary Association to explore area beaches at low tide.  10:30-1:30 at Priest Point and Burfoot today

Saturday storytime at the Olympia Barnes and Noble  1PM  Every Saturday; Today is Independence Day stories and a Founding Fathers scavenger hunt for all ages.

South Sound Barbecue Festival at Huntamer Park

Gig Harbor/Kitsap

Savage Seas Exhibit at the Harbor History Museum  Harbor Wild Watch will be there with touch tanks in the lobby today

The farmer’s market at Uptown is open! From 9-10 every Saturday there is free entertainment for kids.

Story Time at the Kitsap Barnes and Noble   11AM  Fun in the Sun stories today   You may want to sign up for their summer reading program.

Explore the Shore Low Tide event with Metro Parks staff at Owens Beach  10AM  Free, so sign-up necessary; Dress for beach exploration!

Join naturalists from the South Sound Estuary Association to explore area beaches at low tide.  11-2 at Tolmie and Frye Cove today Discover Pass required for Tolmie State Park
