Mark your calendars, Tacoma!
The Tacoma Public Library system is launching their first ever fine forgiveness program, and it’s an amazingly generous win win for readers and the community!
Just donate three nonperishable food items (I encourage you to think of high protein items such as tuna, peanut butter or beans, as well as kid friendly items like macaroni and cheese), and you’ll get 10.00 of fines forgiven! Plus, there is no limit. Even if you’re a serious library scofflaw (hangs head), you should be able to get your slate cleaned! Best of all, you’ll be helping folks in need right in your community, and each library in the system is making sure that the donations stay in their neighborhood. I talked to Cathy from the reference desk, and she said they’re hoping this program will generate a lot of interest. Cathy-I think it’s going to be a hit. The program starts the 19th, and do note this applies to Tacoma Public branches, not those in the Pierce County System. If they do decide to join in, I’ll let you know!
