This Saturday, Metro Parks Tacoma is offering another Pier Peer event. What’s a Pier Peer? It’s a special night time event, where kids get the chance to see sea critters drawn to the dock lights. My older son went to one of these with his dad, and although there was too much wave action to see much, he still had fun being out late and getting to use a flashlight! Do note this event is for ages 8 and up, though there are some Pier Peers in other areas without this restriction.
This weekend’s event is at the Foss Waterway Seaport on Saturday from 7:30-9. You do need to register in advance. There will also be hot cocoa and time to talk with naturalists about what you saw! It’s 8.00 per person, and you’re reminded to wear shoes suitable for wet and slippery docks and warm clothes. Life jackets and scoopers will be provided.
I’ll have information on similar events for those of you closer to Olympia or the Kitsap area, in the future! Can’t get enough of marine life? Don’t miss the Groupon to the Seattle Aquarium!
Kids too little? I’ll have plenty of fun for all ages up tomorrow. You might also want to go one post down to make sure you saw my list of father/daughter dances.
