Schools, libraries, and government offices will be closed for the holiday. Many of this weekend’s events continue, including
Tent sale with free hotdogs and soda at The Old Cannery in Sumner If you wind up with a spontaneous furniture purchase, that’s on you!
Last day for the NW Sand Festival in Federal Way; Showing of Home Alone from 4-6 (Calendar just says Home Alone; I’m assuming that’s what it means)!
Family Fun Days at Emerald Downs in Auburn From 1:30-5:30 kids can get free pony rides; face painters on hand until 4:30; bouncers, too. Races start at 2.
Special themed activities included with park admission (Zipline fees are separate). Park admission is pricey. Your kids might have a free coupon if they did a summer reading program, and September is half-off senior’s month, if you think grandma would like to come (You won’t be able to combine the free coupon and the senior discount). If you’d go two or more times, investing in a membership is probably a good idea.
Bremerton Blackberry Festival Free admission; 2nd annual celebration of all things blackberry. Children’s entertainment, car show, vendors You’re encouraged to take the shuttle for 2.00 from Olympic College
Say Goodbye to the clouded leopard cubs at the Pt.Defiance Zoo (They leave for new homes on the 6th). Zoo admission is spendy; SFM always recommends investing in the annual pass, unless you can take advantage of monthly free days for city residents.
If nothing in the list suits your fancy, it’s officially bucket list time! Many pools will be closing, so you might want to take a swim. Or, it should be a great weekend for a nearby hike, a visit to a great beach, or a ride on the Great Wheel!
