I’m so excited to see that the Foss Waterway Seaport has released their list of Whoopee! It’s Wednesday programs for the summer.
These are outstanding, marine science programs for kids 7-11 and their grown-ups. If you have children with an interest in sea life or marine or environmental science, these are must-dos! Admission is 12.00, which isn’t bad seeing as it covers one adult and up to 3 kiddos. Plus, it’s really quality programming.
Now, virtually all of these did fill last year, so don’t wait long to sign up if you’re interested. You may be able to get in the day of, but it will cost you 6.00 more.
July 11th-What Kind of Creature is That? Kids will be able to communicate with a diver and check out critters brought up from the depths.
July 18th-Native Americans Learn about the culture and customs of the first people who lived around Commencement Bay. Try out native foods and crafts with special guests today.
July 21st Boat Expedition **This is an actual boat ride. The cost is 45.00 per adult and one child.
July 25th Trash Day Help clean up trash, see what can be recycled and make trash instruments. There will also be a sing along and snacks.
August 1st Surprise Day!
Head here for much more detailed descriptions and the phone number for reservations.
If your kids are too young for this program, or the price is too steep for your budget, you have lots of other options for outdoor, aquatic adventures this summer. Kids of all ages can attend free low tide events. You can always check out the touch tanks at the Pt.Defiance Zoo, and on weekends you can go to the HCC Mast Aquarium and touch tank at Redondo for free. Most of the year, the seaport also has a great museum with cheap admission and a fun area for little kids. Right now, those are closed for building renovation, but I’ll let you know when they open up again.
